Blown 1970 SS Nova
Here is an ongoing project I have started for my son. I bought this for him when he was 5 years old. I gathered many parts and about a 18 months ago I started the never ending project . I used to talk a lot of shop with a guy named Jimmy Carter who has since passed away . The motor started as a 1969 427 which turned into a stroker 496 . A 8-71 Blower was added w/ 850 carbs . The car was red then somebody painted it blue. We had it blasted new quarter panels installed . Cut down the rear end and pushed the wheel tubs inboard to make room for the
M & H 390 / 17 / 40`s . Installed a 2 bar system with subframe connectors . With all the go fast stuff . I told him we needed a good brake system. So the 13 " wilwood 6 piston calipers went up front and the 4 piston calipers went to the rear . The car isnt finished but is close . As it gets closer I will shoot some videos of the motor start up ,test drive and much more to come . Some other pictures on here are of his first H.S Drags with my wifes 66 Nova . The start of the 2009 season the Red 70 should be ready . I wonder how fast it will be ??????

I like the 73 -74 novas my wife and I had two back in our High School days . Mine had a 327 . Hers had a 350 until I threw a rod out of the block . So I built her a 396 (402) .That car ran low 13.`s . At that point i was sold on big block chevys . I then bult a 30 over 427 my first year outa H.S. It ran 11.80 in street trim . The red cars blower motor was built around a good friend of mine that has built blowen motors for years . He had told me with my combination 12% o.d. on this 496 it will make 1200 h.p. . I only have 4 miles on it and let me tell you it is the fastest thing I have ever drove on the street . I will shake it down this summer and see just how fast it is .
As for yours it should make 800 h.p @ the crank pretty easy . What or how much o.d. do you run ? what kind of Boost pressure are you seeing ?
