Network for PowerBlock fans

i want to say welcome to all of my new friends. i've just recently joined this site. i belong to http://www.njfboa.org - that is my main forum. it's loosely based on our love for camaros and firebirds (f-bodies), hence the name New Jersey F-Body Owner's Association.

i dig all old muscle cars, not just chevies. of course, i have a special affinity for chevies, especially camaros, which are my two current projects: 1987 camaro and 1969 camaro.

the 1987 camaro will end up being my daughter's car. she's 13 now, so i have a few years to complete the project. she has stated interest in the car, so she will know more than just where to put the gas and where to check the oil. the project, in broad-brush terms, will include a new motor and upgraded trans, custom exterior body work, custom paint, custom interior. i will be using my daughter's opinion to make certain decisions about the car, like the interior, but she will be left out of certain other decisions, like the motor which will be a 406 sbc, 700r4 trans, either 10 bolt or 9" rear with 3.73:1 gears, full spohn suspension and tire size. she will be involved as much as possible, but i don't want this project to interfere with her school work, as she is a straight A student - you don't mess with something like that.

the 1969 camaro will need some body work and a paint job at some point in the future. the interior is solid as is the numbers matching 307 motor with 327 heads. it's got headers and glass packs, so it makes a pretty good ruckus. i've been adding chrome to the engine bay, and might consider putting the 307 under a shelf in the garage and stuffing something else in there... but i don't want to break anything.

so, let's hear about your projects. share a little bit...

He Jim,
That sound like a lot of car for a little girl - you could adopt me instead? I've got a Camero project car as well... according to my wife everything that rolls on wheels here is a project vehicle at one stage or another. My Camero is an 86 Z that i bought from a guy that was making a sudden move out of state. He had got the engine and tryanny from the estate of a buddy who died before the equipment made in into a drag car, so the last owner picked up this Z body and stuffed it in. I got it more as and engine/tranny in a yellow parts box on wheels. Not exactly a great platform for head to head dragging (toooo heavy), but the combo will never pass emissions inspection in NC to be a street car, so it's future is unclear. I didn't really have a plan when I bought it, and that part's still hazy.
It's got a late 60's block & heads, forged crank, and a bunch of other goodies. With the domed pistions and 64 cc heads I think it's probably pushing about 12:1 CR, so it ain't gonna run on pump gas. The prepped TH350 with the 4ooo rpm converter would be a little testy on the street anyway. I may finish it-someday. A fancy dragstrip opened up about 30 miles from here last fall, so if I don't every finish it, maybe someone else will. it would make a killer bracket car, if they still run that. I got a 1000 cfm Demon in the box of parts and I'm kinda tempted to finish it up just to see if that engine can digest that much air.

On a little more serious note, having raised 2 daughters (neither got that kind of horsepower to play with), you may want to consider finding the local SCCA chapter and getting the 2 of you involved in their non-contact classes (autocrossing). It's mostly the import crowd but they used to have classes you could race pretty much anything in. I think she has to be 16 to actually drive on the courses (some are in parking lots), but it would give her a chance to see what happens when you punch your right foot to the floor in a ride like that, and have it happen in a controlled enviornment.
