Well man good luck with it. I know that around Little Rock there you can find some good places to that will help you with your truck. I went and talked to the recruiter today about gettin back in the Army, but not sure if I will be able to or not....

little help

i have recently purchased a 1988 silverado k1500 it has the stock 350 in it and i was wondering how do i go about identifying which model it is so i know what kind of after-market parts i can purchase i am mostly interested in bolt on due to the fact i am not very mechanically inclined and have a very limited amount of hand tools and no shop or garage this is my daily driver so any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hey I am originally from Conway. Sounds like you have some cool projects started. You need to post some pictures. What 350 are you planning for the blazer?

hmmm well man afew i have got so far have been to use things like throttle body spacers, high flow air filters, synthetic oils, just things like that but the best i have found so far was gettin the Zmax additives. I added them to my truck and it was a great boost to the truck. another thing was replacin the old 350's throttle body with one off of a larger chev engine of the same year. Some others i have done myself are things like makin my own cold air intake with dryer pipe lol crude but it worked fairly well. ummm i cant really think of much else. A set of headers would help, so would a less restrictive muffler. the chevs have some really horable mufflers on them so a muffler would help to. other then that i used those new E3 spark plugs, new Bosh performance wires and ignition parts. I also got a cat converter from a newer truck that fit from a junkyard to help with exhaust flow. If any of that helped man im glad and if there is anything else just feel free to ask me. Im not on here alot but im more then happy to help. Oh and thanks for the great work bro. Thanks for servin and helpin out. If only there were more like you out there lol

That's not a problem. You did what you had to do. Thank you from a fellow vet.

Hey bro, I was stationed at Ft. Campbell Ky for about two years and still have some friends up there. If you are in that area I can try to help hook you up with some people up there that may be able to help you with your truck. Let me know man. I was a 63W in the Army up there. Hope this helps you at all.

Another comment on identifying your engine, etc. Find the build sheet, it's usually attached under the seat or on top of the gas tank. That'll tell you everything you want to know. You can also look up the data based on the VIN number. This site might help with the VIN number decoding http://www.vinquery.com/coverage.aspx Good Luck! -Joe
