" You'd think they would have done the same thing other makers did, and just use a shorter piston to drop the compression."

Red Barchetta commented on injun33's group under construction
"I had bought this rotating kit specifically for the early winsor block, as I needed to make sure the pistons did not reach TDC and be sticking out of the bore's. Eagle was one of the only suppliers that advertised both an early, and late kit…"

" Well leave it to Detroit to change things in mid stream, and create confusion! Glad Summit is fixing it. They're always great customer service!"

Red Barchetta commented on injun33's group under construction
"Issue resolved. The early 351w blocks, from 1969 to mid 70's had different main caps than the later ones. Seems Eagle put the late bearings into the kit designed for the early block in this case. So Summitracing.com is replacing the main…"

" Hope somebody at Summit tech can help, and I'd enjoy hearing if there is a difference between various years. Seems odd that Ford would not make things interchangeable though."

Red Barchetta commented on injun33's group under construction
"I checked the part #, they say its for a Winsor, but there is the early and late versions. I do not know if that makes a difference, and they don't say which the bearings are for. I have bought off the shelf bearings before and had no problem.…"

" That's pretty weird! I don't know Ford engines, but maybe they gave you bearings for a Windsor, or different model engine?"

Red Barchetta commented on injun33's group under construction
"Due to too much end play in the FMX transmission, I've had to put it aside while I wait for some shims I ordered to come in. So I start to work on the motor again. I'm installing the main bearings into the block, no problem. But when I go…"

You need to get down to hopefully good inner structure. You can also can the complete floor as they make good repops now. Use a blair spot weld removing drill bit for spot welds and keep it oiled. Do not drill at high speed.

if you would like info on building your own raceing lawn mower, go to www.heymow.com they have the basics on how to build one. to build a fast, or realy fast one you will need to build up a 16 / 20 horse brigs engine into a 60 / 80 horse engine. good luck :)

I don't know if your plans are to restore or to customize, but whichever it is, you will definately resurect it from the dead......just don't give up. I've been working off and on (mostly off) on my project since 1985 and it still isn't finished.

Remember....the future is for those that believe in the reality of their dreams.
