Yea, back in the day, I ran 4" side pipes on my Vette and with the exhaust exit just in front of the rear wheels, you can't hear much else. I loved it too! I also, early in my firefighting carrier, drove an old style open cab Fire Engine with a rotary siren on the drivers side front fender. All this fun(?) has had a bad effect on my left ear hearing. So now I'm a pussy. I'm trying to preserve what hearing I have left. LOL But every now and then I would like to have the option. Maybe I should take a clue from the new ZR1 and install controlled mufflers to select straight thru or quiet. I love the loud around town, (going through the gears) but then on the highway the drone drives me nuts. (a very short trip)
Gary, Have you had your battery checked? It may be something as simple as a bad cell. Lots of electronic stuff on newer cars have fits when they get less than perfect voltage. It sounds like that or you have something electrical with a dead short. My friends C-4 would take 8 to 10 days to go dead. If he autocrossed/raced the car every week, things would be fine, but if he would go two weeks between races, the battery would be dead. If you are good with a ohmn or volt meter, you may be able to isolate which component is malfunctioning. That is IF you are sure your battery is good. I'm not sure if you got my comment this morning replying to your message but, yes, if you have your keys with you as you are walking by, the proximity sensor will trigger the security/lock "relays"making the clicking sound you hear. You didn't say if you were having a battery problem ax well. Thanks for the compliment (I think, I've never had my car called "ass" before but I assume it's a good thing). Actually I'm a pussy and made my exhaust kinda quiet but efficient (and stealth) with three chamber "Flowmasters" 2 1/2" wye pipes through high flow cats. (kindaw sounds like a "warmed" Camaro). But it does get it's little ass down the road. My best time with 3.73:1 and "BFG Cheaters" was 12.98 in the quarter here at the Sacramento Raceway.
