Dan that '50 looks great! the changes you made really enhance the lines of the truck. Bring it up to the Back to the 50's show in June. We get 11,000+ cars here for that one and it's a great venue to show off your hard work.

Without a lift with 16"rims about a 295/75 R16 is a big as you can go and when you turn it will even rub the frame! Factory size 275/65 R16 are about the biggest you can go without the tires wearing down fast, unless you lift the truck! I have the...

It has a Vortec 5.7 L 350 Chevy, custom tail lights that came with the truck, a stainless steel differential back end cover that also came with the truck and BF Goodrich Mud-Terrian tires that are the stock size 265/75 R16 which i use as winter tires, and i have a set of 20" Boss Rims with 295/50R20. I also just got a Double,Single Go Rhino Roll Bar set, 3/4 inch bed mat, and a Delta Tool Box for my truck. I really like the front end of your truck. In my opinion its one of Chevy`s best front ends. Looks like you have a cool machine there. Check out some old school Chevy that I put together. Cheers from a fellow Chevy enthusiast.

i just tried the truck out earlier, the X pipe gives a better deeper tone thatn i thought, before i didn't floor it but i did a couple times and its awesome, i didn't think just an X pipe would make such a difference, and it even made my acceleration better to, i bet it shaved 2 seeconds off the 0-60 lol, oh and about the straight cats, the cops already know me for my truck and its not a good thing so i don't wanna give them another reason to pull me lol

hey man, i just had an X pipe put in between the 2 cats and the 2 mufflers, the rear hanger on the driver side tail pipe broke and i figure while its there might as well get them to put in an X pipe since there wasn't a crossover pipe at all, sounds the same when idling but when driving it sounds a little deeper and sounds better, i would have done it myself but i don't have a welder but oh well lol

also a good thing about having a 350 is that its so much stuff out there for a 350, a Chevy SB 350 is probably the most well known SB out there, im not sure if the 327 is the same block as the 350 or 305 but im thinking is the 305 block thats just bored and/or stroked a little more, i like having a 350 also because i can take the block out and rebuild it into a 383 stroker, can't do that with a 305 or at least i don't think you can, and i might add a supercharger lol, my truck with a 6 inch lift and a supercharged 383 stroker will be a monster, but it might not be as fast since i plan on replacing the 3.73 gears with 4.10s, but im hoping i can get a silverado 2500HD with the duramax diesel and allison transmission and i'd still keep the Z71, the 2500HD will be the daily driver/tow and haulling truck while the Z71 will be the play truck lol

ya mine has just under 133,000 miles (214,000 KM) on it now and its jsut breaking in real good i guess, but my old 86 C10 custom deluxe i told you about probably had about 250,000 miles (just over 402,000 KM) when i first got it and it ran good, was a little weak but that was probalby cause it was a 305, but it still ran good, biggest thing i had to replace on it was the clutch assembly, but thing is, they don't make them like they used to, no matter what make it is, im jsut glad i got the last year of the chevy full size trucks that had the actual metal bumpers and 350s lol

thats true, but the truck i have now i plan on keeping as a play truck, even if i get a chevy 2500HD i'll still keep the Z71, im gonna keep the Z71 until its not drivable anymore lol, i just hope it wouldn't be from getting totaled lol

ya they do, the enw ones look sooo much better than the stock lights, mine loook different than your other than the color but they're basically the same, i can see you don't need one but do you happen to know someone that would need a stock gas door, i found my stock one from when i put the chrome aftermarket one on mine, but i think the door fits all full size chevy/gmc full size truck from 88-98, i think it fits both fleetside and stepside but not sure if they fit stepside to, do you know anybody that needs the stock gas door? i can't find the mounting screws though, its in real good shape though, even the paint is in real good shape

well if you think about it, yours won't be any more cramped, just a shorter distance under the truck, but you'll have the same amount of room, the exhaust will just be shorter thats all, plus mine might be ect cab but its only 18 inches longer, just guessing but thats about it lol, so you'll be able to put a full dual exhaust under your truck with mufflers if you decide to
At 10:15pm on April 9, 2009, SouthernGuy8503 said…
well remember i do have true dual exahust so i do have 2 muffler and 2 cats, the mufflers are just on end to fit and have them side by side, the cats are just kind of slanted i guess, not side by side but kind of alternate, if you give me your email i could email you pics so you see what im talkin about but ya mines true dual exhaust so you can make 2 mufflers fit no problem

ya i have nothing against glasspacks, i think they sound bad ass on certain things but i don't know i'd rather have mufflers so i won't have to worry about replacing them, its no telling how old the flowmasters are on my truck and theyr'e still holding together great, just can tell i've been in the mud more than a couple times lol, but one of my friends has an old 65 chevy truck, not sure what exahsut he has on it now but back in high school he had a semi racing engine with headers and then the glasspacks bolted ight on the headers and then the tips on the other end of the glasspacks, so basically it was just headers and glasspacs, it sounded so bad ass and one time we took off the glasspacks just to see what it sounded like with open headers and well lets say it sounded louder and better than nascars lol, but about the glasspacks i've had someone say that the fiberglass burning out is a myth, i don't think he's ever actually opened one up either so i don't know, im the type of person that i'd rather get something thats a little more expensive and let it last longer than always buying the cheap stuff and replacing it all the time
At 9:54pm on April 8, 2009, SouthernGuy8503 said…
well im nto even sure what series mufflers thats on my truck since they were on there when i bought it but ya mine could be louder, im not sure if its true but i heard that the fiberglass insulation in glasspacks eventually burn out and then it sounds like shit, i don't know if it does but i've heard it can, but i want headers on my truck to, had seien the stock exhaust manifold, i was thinking hooker headers, but of course i don't have the money to basically redo my exhaust even though i want to, it looks like its still only 2 inch, i want to get the loudest flowmaster mufflers and have the whole exhaust rebuilt with new tubing and everything, from the headers back, but like that and a lift, none of that is gonna happen anytime soon
At 6:38pm on April 8, 2009, SouthernGuy8503 said…
ya i know, i lucked out a little that the TRUE dual flowmaster exhaust was already on my truck when i bought it from the guy, but the air itnkae kit cost me $200, normally 300 but i got mine off ebay, still brand new and factory sealed, just the box was messed up but i didn't care as long as the stuff inside was still fine lol, i kinda want to put factory tow hooks on mine, it didnt' even come with any, but that means i'll have to find 4 bolts that are longer because the ones holding the brush guard on are going to be to short after adding the tow hooks

ya i know, i went from a 86 chevy C10 custom deluxe with a weak 305 and a "granny" trnasmission to this truck with a 350, and when i put the K&N air intake kit on it had even better acceleration and had a deeper tone sound when i stomped it, your truck might be a little quicker than mine only because yours is lighter being single cab and mines ext cab, but these trucks can handle a hell of a lot better than you'd think for it being a full size 4x4 truck, i was on the interstate and i was going to get on a highway, the ramp is a big loop ramp like a clover leaf you know basically a circle, i was going south on the interstate to east on the highway, well the speed limit on the ramp is 25 mph and well i went around it goin about 75, all 4 tires were screaming, all were ERRRRRRR lol and the rear end never felt like it was going to get loose, i went around the whole ramp staying between 70 and 75 and i kept it going, i told my friend that was with me "holy shit i didn't know the truck could do that" lol, but anyways you should defiantly get an aftermarket air intake kit to replace the stock air intake system, its way restricted, the seperate box behind the throttle body and i think its another seperate box beside the fitler box, they restrict the air so not as much are getting to the engine, basically just to give better gas mileage, but tust me you'll feel the difference after putting on an air intake kit, but you might need to have an aftermarket exhaust to feel the acceleration difference

well i've had my truck for 5 years so far and its been good to me so far, those BFGoodrich All-Terrains i told you about i didn't have all that long because it was when i'd drive crazy like do burnouts and doughnuts and stuff like that, i've calmed down a lot but i still start off fast and weave througn traffic a little, i turned those rear tires i used to have into slicks in maybe a month or 2, $150 per tire, i learned my lesson lol, i don't plan on putting mud or of road aggressive tires on my truck anymore until i lift it if i ever do
