about me and the project

my name is brad and i live in dover,de (not really a 4 wheelers area but it's home). i'm a true do-it-yourselfer, i've worked on anything from race cars to fire trucks, go karts, lawn mowers and jeeps. i've learned how to weld better, do body work and don't mind taking things apart to learn how they work and rebuild them.

currently, i have a 1987 jeep wrangler which i've been working on for the last 3 years or so. originally, the jeep was given to me by an ex-girlfriend in exchange for doing home repairs and wiring thier garage. it was my original plan to have a beater truck to get stuff from the lumber yards and have something to take to the beach for surf fishing and put on the trails once in awhile.

when i first got it i was just trying to get it running and street legal. the dmv had something to say about that. the hydro carbons where too high and then i had some transmission problems (peugot b/a 10). so it sat in my garage hadn't worked on it for about 9 mos. i thought about parting it out, selling it outright and of course keeping it and getting it working.

since january of 2008 i've done a frame up restoration on it. i replaced the stock 258, dana 30 and 35 axles, transmisson and transfer case. and i have replaced them with a chevy 305 smallblock, dana 30 front axle (non disconnect), amc 20 rear axle, and a ford t-18 transimission, bolted to a dana 20 transfer case. after i get some money re-cooped i want to find a set of dana 44 and dana 60 axles.

the interior is based on a race car design, full autometer gauges, toggle switch ignition, start and accessories. the tub is lined with herculiner and will recieve a 2nd coat after i get the jeep running again. the seats are cloth and nothing fancy about them, i think they are trailmax. i have a steering wheel out of a nascar series car and 5 point harnesses for both the driver and passenger.

the engine i'm damn proud. it was a give away the i picked it up. it's a 305 chevy and
is a completely stock engine, with some basic hot rodding tricks to it. it has an hei distributor, block hugger headers and the stock manifold (for now) and a holley 650 carb. eventully, all the lines are going to be braided steel and it has an aluminum radiator and kept the stock steering pump.

well after a year and half of work on it, the jeep has come alive! i have a few small things to tighten up but for the most part it's done! will get some wheeling pics up before long.
