I KNOW your faster than 14!!! LOL There is a big diffence between Muncie and Sag. Different gears as well. My 6 is stacked, but nothin radical. Kenne Bell Buick racing supplied my stage 2 cam, roller valvetrain. My Steel crank is from the bigger 4.2 V6. I'm using peened turbo rods N 7:5.1 forged pistons. Ported Stock turbo heads N match ported intake. Add 16lbs boost N hang on. LOL In 2nd, I still spin em for about 10 to 15 ft @ launch, but I don't shift til 40mph, then around 63/65 N runner out in 4th. The stock motor mounts waste sooo much torque, the engine tilts right N when it falls back into place your cookin. I've never dino'ed, but figured I was gettin 350hp outta the 6. You should be makin that kinda HP easily. Instead of the 400 tranney...check out a 200R4. This was designed to take gobs of HP N has a universal bolt pattern to cover GM HP cars. I'm building/restoring from racecar a 66GTO. Just pulled the badass 396 out with a 350 tranney combo. Found a 421 SD Tripower motor!!!! The holy grail of Pontiac racing in the 60's. Picked up a 200R4 as it mates to the 64 421 and also has overdrive! To help w/gas milage for crusin. The Bird is my showcar N lots of things I could do to make it faster, but itsa crusier N can hold its own with most that wanna play the street light games.
no sub frame connectors,just boxed lower A arm connector,I got ripped off on my transmision,took in 4 rebuildMuncie 4,they told me couldnt find parts,and gave me rebuilt Saginaw,doesnt shift well under pressure,so going to th400,hope to get a full cage to stiffen up body like you said$$big factor in the now factor ,really start in 2nd and dont rattle valves or nothing?!,I hook up good,gears are to close,run out 3rdand 200ft or so into 4th from line
At 4:44pm on December 5, 2009, Charlie said… My best, with slicks was 14.0 running a mild "street" cam 3.73 gear and a 355 motor,my axle housing is stock but my internals are custom and modified,as is my torque bar panhard and lower links.my front end is belltech S10 drop spindles camaro brake and rotors,a lot of "customizing"I chose to fabricate ball joints.I got caught Drag racing on the street, a bunch of money later I only drive it at the track,I know i could have gone faster than 14. but i figured new cam etc.,might as well build bigger motor;)
Thanks Justa 6. It's always nice to get a compliment from another gear head. I like the stance of your Sunbird. The {optional blower } feature looks great to, I just dont remember Pontiac having that in there optional feature program. NICE job!!!!!
