Oh yeah, and if your only interested in speed and not strength (for towing and stuff that is lol) I would recomend going with a mediocer gear like a 3:55;1 or something, with your overdrive, that should keep your rpms down to reasonable on the hig...

Hey Midnight, I just signed in and read your post about the rear in your truck, let's see if this helps you any. From what I understood there you have a 2:55;1 gear ratio right now and you want to know for sure. Well there are a bunch of different...

OKay the rear end is the rear axle. That is would put's the power to the pavement, and that is were your gears are. Like for a Ford 3:55, 4:11. Stuff like that all deals with the back axle on your car or truck. That is if it is a rear wheel driver...

i think a ford 9 inch rear end would probabaly be at best. i always hear guys haveing cars and trucks that have around 400 plus horsepower and have a ford 9 inch rear end. for a chevy i really dont know what the rear end is. try looking it up and ...

Hi Steve, what's shakin? Love your truck, it's FORD.....I haven't checked the mail for a long time, workin on my truck every minute I can. I don't have a lift kit, nor am I going to. You wanna know how it got this high. Skyjacker coil-over gas shocks, front, and rear, that's all. The paint came from the factory, except the lower 8 inches. I put on dura-guard, and thought it looked better black. I am now painting all of the black with dupli-color metallic black. Couldn't find the gray until tonite, but it's too late, I'm painting the roof black. Dupli-color people are great. They found me a place that I could order it, but the gray is in good shape, so I will leave it alone. Is your ride a 4x4? I love the old trucks better....YOU CAN WORK ON THEM YOURSELF.......Have a good weekend Steve.

I have a shirt that I wear alot and get alot of comments on, it says "Smoke 'em til the tires fall off" But I heard, and have since verified it though a couple of police officers, that smoking the tires and leaving rubber on the road is a felony, with a fine of $1500.00. Leaving black marks is 'defacing government property', hence the felony. I don't do it anymore. Well, the car can't and the truck is all apart.

That much power would be so cool. But the 460 has alot of torgue from what I have hard. I never saw any stats, but I know it would smoke the tires off on my F100.

Thanks, Steve. I have the original 318 in my car. I think there is over 400K miles on it. I had it rebuilt once and it is pumping close to 300 HP, but someday want to take ti higher. I have a '69 Ford F100 that was my daily driver before my Fury. About a year before I quite driving it, I took out the original 302 and put in a 460/C6 combo. Talk about a sleeper! I tore it down to the bare frame and was starting to street rod it, but can't keep the plymouth running and street rod a truck, so abandoning the truck. But the switch from the 302 to the 460 was easier than I thought. So if you are thinking about it, DO IT!
