Awesome! I Think I'll try and change that sucker this weekend. Can I just jack it up and unbolt it? or am I looking at disassembling everything again? I would like to just do it rite in the laneway if possible.

Well, the end link in the pic is the drivers side. And that one. Prying of the spindle I can back it out like almost a 1/4 inch, passenger side is stiff. you think that could cause a deep clunk over bumps and turning?

Hmm, Ill go back out and check.....

Parking wars

SO I live in a building where the parking is disgustingly expensive. I mean highway robbery! 70$ a month for a parking spot. That's 30 bucks shy of monthly parking downtown where I live. I'm paying for My gf's car to have a spot. and can't afford to get a spot for my cougar. So I park it in visitors parking. I know it's not a freakin old chevelle or mustang. But it's my baby.

Anyway! point being I wait and I wait and I wait. everynight for a spot. it truly seems like out of 30 spots only 4 cars… Continue

sheldon, my brothers bonneville had the same kind of clunk, it was a broken end link on the swaybar. you couldn't see it, and prying on it probably wouldn't create the same sound. as the body weight shifts the bar slaps the mount. I would bet that's the problem you've got.

Thanks for your warm welcome, Sheldon. By the way, where is the photo on your page from? It looks like the water's edge of "Garlic Land" on the Peninsula in Central California, but it could ALSO be Alberta. Is either guess accurate?

Thanks for the comment. There's plenty more to be done to the Camaro, it seems that race cars are never really done. Lots of ideas on things to do. Plan to keep building and wrenching until it's a stock appearing 9 second ride.

Hey Sheldon-You can strip and either etch prime or epoxy prime (I prefer the metal etch primer) then prime with urethane primer/surfacer. The Surfacer will hold up to the weather and allow you to do a panel at a time if you wish. Then do the repaint all at once. I wouldn't recommend doing the final painting a panel at a time. Be careful and have a proper and new (keep sealed in a plastic bag) respirator. These are some dangerous chemicals. One word of advise- Choose a paint system and stick with one brand top to bottom-VERY important. Me, I use either PPG or Dupont. I'll help you as needed. ~~~Ron

Sorry to be so late getting back to you. I was working on a sprint car tonight. I work on the team. Busy, busy...lol... Now about your Cougar- Looks like the top surfaces will need to be stripped to the metal and a complete repaint is for sure needed. They must use a lot of salt on the roads up there judging from the rust on the top surfaces. Are you going to try and paint it yourself? A lot of work involved in stripping to metal, metal etch priming.urethane primer/surfacer sanding , sealing and base/clearing. The actual spraying is the easy part. Properly preparing for the color and clear is another story..Fill me in on your experience and awareness of the dangerous materials that are required and I will advise you as best I can. Thanks ~~~Ron

Hey Sheldon- It is kind of hard to tell by pics. Are the chips caused by rocks or is it a repaint that is blistering/lifting? If there are alot of chips caused by rocks (as the photo seems to suggest) then spotting is probably not advised. Most spot painting is done as a color blend and then re-clearing the entire panel or to a suitable blend line. The chips can be sanded and feathered (all rust must be removed) then primer applied and sanded as needed and probably the entire care based and cleared. If the chips are limited to a small area (or just 1-2 panels) then a blend and clear of those panels is possible .
BUT.... how will that look compared to the rest of the car and do you plan on keeping the car? Hope this was helpful and let me know more info and I will advise as best I can. ~~~Ron
