I have a 2001 Dodge Neon R/T. It came stock with a 2.0 Magnum 4 holer with 150 advertised horsepower. It rides in 16" wheels with BFGs on the corners. It came stock with a Sport Suspenion which has a 23mm front stabiler bar and a 18mm rear. They only made about 1700 Neon R/Ts in 2001.
The 2.0 Magnum differs greatly from a regular 2.0. For starters it has a more aggressive engine management system, 2 1/4 inch exhaust, shorty header, HUGE exhaust valves, heat treated pistons, 250 degree duration cam, and a trick intake manifold. The 2001 Magnum is sought after becouse it is the year with the most aggressice cam and engine management system. My 2.0 Magnum has been modified in the following ways, aFe cold air intake, Thermal Research and Development exhaust, Mopar Performance Short Throw shifter with SRT-4 boot and knob, Vibrant High flow cat converter, Mpx mid-lenght header, Mpx crank pulley and Mopar Performance 7.5mm plug wires.
My suspenion is stock R/T. I have modified the interior with high performance seats and I removed the front driving lights for a more aggressive American Club Racer look. The last try on a G-Tech meter showed my wheel horsepower ( not advertised) at 158. This would equal to about 180 at the crank which is about 30 over stock. My car currently runs 0-60 in 7.0 and 1320 at 15.57. I average about 29 mpg. The car has 160,000 miles on her. She is may daily driver and a blast to drive. I ordered the car new. The first Neon I modified was a white 1995 Plymouth Neon Sport Coupe. The people I work with called that car white lightning. I call this car Black Thunder. It has a pornographic Exhaust note.
