"I would be too embarrassed to go to a dealer or garage. I'd start with a utility knife and  gently pry the lens. That's the way it's been forever."

"I would have never though a new carrier would only cost $50! The cold and wet was what I was thinking about! Been there, done that 38 years ago in Maryland with no garage.  Now I hardly ever think about nasty weather here on southern Nevada!"

"Sorry, Warren! I wished the heck I was wrong.  See if you can find a used unit with the same ratio and drop it in and be done with it.  Probably be about the same as buying a bunch of new parts!"

I built most everything

I can't afford to buy this stuff for my Liberty. I guess they know they have most of us by the balls so they can charge what they want to. That's OK, I'll just bust my knuckles, burn my arms, sweat and spend days in the garage/shop building everything. I'm just glad I can. Power to the knuck busters!

THANKS PAUL.  I HAVE ADDED A PICTURE OF THE HAND CONTROLS.  THEY ARE THE SAME CONTROLS AS IN MY 93 DODGE MINIVAN.  THEY CAME OUT OF A LATE 90'S VAN THAT WAS CONVERTED FOR A YOUNG MAN, BUT HE SCARED HIMSELF TRYING TO LEARN HOW TO USE THEM SO PAYED ONLY THE LABOR TO HAVE THEM REMOVED. THE STEERING WHEEL IS A HORIZONTAL THAT HOOKS TO THE ORIGINAL HEAD.IT TILTS UP AND DOWN (LAYS ON MY RIGHT LEG WHEN DRIVING) THE WHEEL IS GEARED 2 TO ONE AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP IS MODIFIED TO STEER EASILY.  THE FOUR PINS YOU SEE STICKING UP ARE CALLED "QUAD PINS".  I SLIDE MY HAND INTO THEM AND THEY HOLD MY HAND IN THE WHEEL EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NO GRIP.

THE GAS AND BRAKE ARE OPERATED BY THE ELECTRIC SERVO MOTOR ON THE LEFT.  I MOVE THE HANDLE TO THE LEFT AND IT PULLS ON THE THROTTLE.  TO THE RIGHT AND IT HAS AN ARM THAT PUSHES ON THE BRAKE PEDAL.  THE SWITCHES ON THE CONSOLE OPERATE THE TILT STEERING WHEEL, THE IGNITION, THE GEAR SHIFTER, THE ELECTRIC DOORS/LIFT AND WINDOWS.  THE HEAD RESTRAINT WAS BUILT ORIGINALLY TO KEEP ME FROM FALLING OVER WHEN I TURN OR BRAKE, BUT I HAVE ADDED THE SWITCHES IN IT TO OPERATE THE WIPERS, TURN SIGNALS, HORN, BRIGHTS ETC WITH MY HEAD. IT LOOKS HIGH TECH, BUT THE SWITCHES FOR THE HEADREST CAME FROM RADIO SHACK AND THE CONSOLE SWITCHES ARE FOR AN 18 WHEELER PETERBUILT TRUCK.
