on Sunday I was cruising down I-95 S. towards Naamans Rd. DE when all the sudden I noticed that my car came out of 4th gear !
On the drive back to Philly I heard the car clanging and banging . it sounded like it was comming from the bell housing area in front of my M-21 tranny.
In neutral at idel the thing was really making noise . But when I depressed thre clutch the noise stopped ..
Anyway , Aftyer getting it up and on the lift I found that it wasn`t the Ram Powergrip heavy Duty Clutch or the Billet Steel $300 dollar Flywheel .
It was the tranny.
Well.. I did n`t wanna try and rebuild it because I really wanted to fix it that day.
My friends told me about a guy named T J not to far from here who rebuilds and resells Ford 8 and 9 inch rears and Transmissions too.
I called T J and he had my trans in stock . $975 with core deposit .
I picked it up , installed it and got done by 5:30 pm that same day.
The new M-21 is GUARENTEED beefier and stronger than the old one .
I was thinking of buying a Richmond trans from Summit $1,500.00 , but my Crank spline is NOT a 400 series . plus I wanted it DONE that day.
I asked TJ why These typeof 4 speed trannys brake and he told me " It`s your Tires , back when GM made these units ,
the tires of that time did`nt have the traction that the high perfrmance tires of today have "
Well the new M-21 is in and I am banging gears and pulling holeshots once again!
