Marty..man you and the other officers need to be commended on your endeavor....what a great way to reach kids and young adults.....it doesn't hurt to have a little fun while doing it either....here in Albuquerque a few years back the "city fathers" closed our drag strip down because the mayor bought some property next to it to build a bussiness park or something...it was closed for...I can't remember exactly but it seemed like two or three years....man it was a mess....some of the streets you knew not to drive on after 9:oo pm...there was a task force formed..I don't know how many officers but a bunch......they were just overwhelmed by the amount of street racing.....every body from the drag strip was circulating petitions...having car shows trying to raise awareness in the public so we could pressure the "law makers"into reopening the strip...there was an election at the state level for land commissioner....he was contacted and came to one of the meetings...and after the elections the drag strip was reopened....what a change on the streets.... it was amazing...we still have a few "squirrels" out there but not many.... I hope it doesn't happen again...the lease on the land is up in 3 years.....Marty again congrats to you and your guys on a great job..Jim
