Saw your CUCV and was wondering if it was real. Saw the interior and knew it was. Looks like it's in really good shape, especially when compared to all the ones I've driven. How did you come across it? And did the commo equipment come with it?
That sounds like a plan! I am heading up to Dallas in a little while to visit with friends. Not much shooting going on there if all is well!! LOL
Oh, I was going to ask you what your plan is with the engine in your 1009. Are you staying stock, or upgrading the current plant? That chief I told you about was running a Big block in his 1008 and a small block in his 1009. I think, I don't remember so much with that one, he didn't drive it very often.. I was thinking about painting my 05'Silverado like your 1009, but my girl said she would never ride in it again if I did.. Women are funny that way. They did a OEM competition a couple years back for new CUCV's, support type vehicles and they made one from a truck like mine, that thing just looked awesome, the Ford F-Superduty wasn't too shabby either. Have fun shooting!!
that is a possibilty. I might just go with a basic chevy color. I am doing a very low cost rebuild on this project. For the most part it is restoration parts from LMC, paint, minor engine mods, and some breative sheetmetal work.
yeah, i would think that as long as you already have the CUCV specific pieces than the rect could easily be purchased through LMC. They even have the diesel fuel only labeled fuel gauges. Saw those when I was shopping for mine. Do you think one of those sources you mentioned could help me out with my interior fabric?
Glad that you have some solid sources for parts. I was really impressed that you managed to get your hands on the radio for it too! Yours is the only one I have seen that has it. Oh, I sent you a freinds request if you are interested :) You know, I almost bought a 1009 over the summer when I bought my 85', but it had already been hacked on too much for my liking.
you know, I am trying to figure out how to get the seat covers that go in there, and the dash pad. I am going to use them on my 85 C10 build. I don't think I have been looking in the right places though. You know, there are tons of resources out there for the trucks you are interested in. It just takes a bit more digging than with a regular civvy truck. Back in the day the CW3 in charge of our motorpool had a 1008, and a 1009. They appeared stock, but sported lift kits, and the 1008 had a big block. I used to have a picture of them parked on line with the rest of the trucks. It was pretty sweet. OH!! One of the staffers from 4wheel offroad magazine has a 1008, and I think he has a bunch of leads on parts!!
