Kevin Nicol replied to Joshuah W. Spraggins's discussion Engine Swap in the group Toyota 4x4
"I am more then half way done on my swap/truck rebuild. Not too bad if you use the swap parts available from northwest off-road. Headers are expensive from NWOR but you can use 64 falcon headers from summit racing. If you use a carb setup you can…"

"take apart a stock set of rear springs and use the majority of the leaf sections in the front springs. Combine this with some spring rearching and your in you should be in good shape. You may also wish to upgrade to aftermarket lift springs"

Started work on the 84 Toyota Again - It's been a while!

OK after what has been a 2 year absence  I am back working on my 84 Truck project.   I've had another child since then and also built a new deck , driveway and completly finished the basement level of the house with two bedrooms, a bath and what can only be discribed as a Woman's perfect living room!  Time for me to focus on my own projects for the warmer summer months and get my project truck done done done!  If not I may have to apply to be on Search and Restore to get my truck done! A couple…See More

"I have had some success using 2 part epoxy on some tanks but others it will not stick to. You might also try lock tight red bearing clearance filler. This stuff will fill a crack well and is impervious to fuel once it hardens. High quality RTV…"

Yeh....victory number 1!I also invested in some new welding carts which were on sale at the local Princess Auto store so my Tig Welder, Plasma, and Mig welders are now on matching carts…See More

The Body is going on!! well only to build the wiring and start the engine

Today was a mile stone I guess. I dropped the cab back over the frame and bolted it on to check the alignment and clearance on the firewall. I have a minor issue with the emergency brake cable but I figured this would be a problem just looking at it. The driver’s side cylinder head hits on the firewall so some minor reshaping is needed. I will have to modify the gas pedal as well as it currently resides in the bump which is hitting on the motor.

As you can see in the picture I have… Continue

Building up an 1984 Toyota SR5 Pickup - Yes it will be V8 powered and built to take on the Canadian Winter!

Ok...Time to get everyone up to speed. I am two thirds of the way through what has turned into a complete rebuild of my old trusty 84 Toyota pickup.

For those in the south....this truck is a 25 year veteran of the Canadian winter....Its really "holly" but was in one piece when I started 2 years ago. I've owned it for 7 years and did replace most of the body pannels and fixed the typical frame issues when I first bought it. Since then It's taken a beating...Moslty hauling building… Continue
