"I really doubt it has anyting to do with your filter location. Actually it is a good idea before the pump just to save it from getting dirt in it. Also too, you said your problem is on intial start up, not after it has been run for a while. Unless…"
"500HP is an easy reality with a big block. You wont need a lot of radical parts either. I dont know enough about your heads though, I am terrible at casting numbers. But on what you have asked. On connecting rods, it all depends on what your plans…"
"I will be honest, I didnt know that GM made a 2 piece rear main after 1986. I thought they were all 1 piece rear main by 1992. The pan sealed to the rear cap on the 2 piece, which it was smaller than the 1 piece. If your local dealership still has…"
"I agree with everyone Ron, sounds like an excellent group. Like Grampy, I am always up on learning new things and techniques. Actually, I have a couple doors here I am going to fix for a friend, I should post a couple pics of them to get your…"
"Scott, the best performance upgrade for that car is to put in a 5.0! Ford had a LOT of problems with that engine, why it is so hard to find parts for it like Arthur said. Back in the day, Ford was even offering a swap kit so you could drop in a…"
"Grampy is right Impala, a crank kit with bearings, and a balancer is the minimum needed to fix it. Since you dont race it, I agree also that you dont have to go crazy and put in a performance crankshaft. This is one thing i do worry though. It…"
"JP, I never have used one of those distributors, so I am not up on their electronics. But it very well could be a signal error between that dist and the new module. If you dont want to go the expense of a performance didt like a MSD, what I would do…"
"Nice clean job on the engine compartment Arthur. and are they ever done? I know with me they are not, always come up with something new to want to do!
JP, I had been reading on your dilemma here. What I find interesting is that it ran OK BEFORE the…"
"Note to self, if in JP's town, if the cherries come on behind me, pull over right away, have my info ready and a lot of "yes, sir!" Is that it JP? Or is there anything else I should remember so i dont get the baton or anything else?…"
"Bruce, there are too many variables, like what kind of vehicle you are working on, and what kind of scan tool you are using. Some manufacturers will give you datastream during cranking, some dont. If you are using a cheaper brand generic scan tool,…"
"Wont rip you on it Jerry, you have been to helpful to me without giving me trouble. The new displacement is 439CID. The formula is CID= NOC x 0.7854 x BORE2 x STROKE. Or you could do this way too, use a website like I did to do the figuring. here is…"
"That is a good point Rick, as no one has given any bad suggestions yet. I am pretty much open minded to whatever is decided. But that is also a reason why we brought this idea to everyone now. This gives us time to come up with a time and location,…"
That's the one, sorry to hear about your friend, my Special is up and running, got the usual rattles and clunks need to tighten things down and drive it til I can chase down everything that's loose, maybe next year, keep in touch for updates on the Buick, later, George
I hope your friend feels better, I'm going to the G.S.T.A. show later this month at the Collisium in the Minnesota State Fairgrounds with Jon Kosmoski to debut his '34 Phaenton, you see it under the plastic cover in my latest pics I've posted, there will be more posted before and after the show.
Things have been about as well as they can be! Good to hear from you hope all is well on your end! Been pretty busy lately with all sorts of different things happening, hopefully soon I will be getting a little bit more of a break so I can get some new postings and Pic's up on here! I'll be talking to all of you guys again real soon!
As far as steering wheels with airbags go, there isn't too many choices. Because of liability issues with the bags, nobody is willing to tackle it. The cost of the insurance to produce 'em would be crazy! Most guys I have seen just remove the bags and wheel, and install an aftermarket wheel. Not real good for safety, but if you're going for pure looks... Another option is check with Grant. They make some steering wheel covers that don't look bad. The leather wheel in my Mustang was worn, and they wanted a LOT for a new one. So I got a Grant cover for about $50 and it's all good.
You are right Kevin, Maybe I could jump back in and at least offer a different perspective without p****** too many people off...LOL Sorry to say, I can't find your engine specs, however, if you would get them to me once again, I will look in to a few cam options for you.
Hey Kevin, How have you been?
Regarding that 12:1 engine suggestion, it is obvious that the guy knows and understands engine building, however, to suggest such a package and then state how he thinks the system can be beat for smog controls is JUST WRONG in my opinion.
I started to help the guy out and then basically got jumped on, so, I backed out to see where this leads. Don't know how I would be interpeted if I jumped back in now and made different suggestions?
Maybe I will just to read the other guys comments about me...LOL
As for your cam on the Pro-Charger Engine, what specs were you looking for? If I can be of help...just let me know
