Yeah, I have always wanted to rebuild a car, just never got the oppertunity. I went out with a girl who's sister's boyfriend told me he would " give " me his 72 Camaro back in 1991 but my folks wouldn't let me keep it so I had to pass it up. Man every time I think about that I burns me. I had a 75 Camaro in 86 and wrecked it in a stupid accident and I have always wanted to get another,,,this came up for 200.00 and my buddy I have known since high school is letting me keep it out there at his place or it would have been another lost oppertunity. Thank god for friends,,,lol.......he is a great bud and we been through some SH@#T together and I always said if I ever won the lottery his house will be paid and refinished and he would be set.
I looked at buying a 1981 Z/28 that I had seen advertised here on my local advertisment: It read, "all origional numbers matching 1981 Z/28 a good project car needs little work". I looked at the pictures provided and it looked realy good for what they were asking $1600.00 obo. I thought mine needs a motor, tranny and god knows what else and it isn't a Z and it won't be numbers matching so after a few attempts at calling the number I finaly got a hold of someone. I went out to look at the car and at first glance it looked pretty good, I opened the driver side door and peered inside and the interior looked trashed and the carpet had rust seeping through it. I then went around to the back and looked underneath and noticed that the rear frame rails looked realy bad too. I became very sketical about the car so I reached under the driver side, I pushed on the floor and the whole left floor pan,,,seat and all started to jiggle. I got up and looked at the guy and said I will get back to you. I was realy irretated that I drove out there to find out the car was a peice of crap. I checked back on the site again a couple of months later it was still there and so I wrote the guy and offerd him 500.00 for it. I think I insulted him but I figured he tried to pull a fast one on me and some poor kid will come along and not know what he is realy buying and realize he was screwd over after he put his money down. I still like my car anyway and I had mixed feelings about buying something else as it was, so I guess it was for the best that the body on mine was in alot better shape than that one, but what a shame about the other car, it would have been worth saving if you had a boddy shop and could have done all the work your self. It was all origional and numbers matching.
I like the fact that you have kept it it's origional colours, I thought about painting my that exact same way. My decisions are put on hold until I either find a new job or go to college and then get a new job and at my age that's not gonna be easy....lol. I wish I could find a Camaro that I could enjoy while working on this one but I was 9 when your Z/28 rolled off the assmebly line..... and they aren't getting any younger either.
