As far as ur area, if there is any kind of military base near you, Air Force, Navy, Army or what ever. They will have civilian DOD fire fighters. Do this look up "USA JOBS" on the web. When you get to their site find the "job search" block. Look for the place on the site where you can enter in a series number. The series number for fire figter is " 0081". then scroll down and check out all the jobs they'll be all over the US and some in different countries too. Let me know if you find everything ok. I know there's an announcement for Keesler Air Force base in Biloxi or Gulfport, MS
Well let me tell bro, I left the city of Mobile in 04. I'd been there for 8 yrs. when I left I was of course all the basic fire fighter certs, but also an EMT-B,
Haz-mat Tech, and a few other certs. I left after 8 yrs of service with Mobile making aprox $26-27k. Thats pathetic. I loved the job more than anybody but if you got a family you want to have nice things, you know. Last year I made $72K as a fire fighter, riding backwards, with no extra responsibilities. There aint a city dept anywhere, especially in the south paying that kinda money.
Thanks Pal, I was a fire fighter in Mobile, AL from 96-2004. I left my city job for a Federal or DOD fire fighting job. That was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
