Buford gets New Shoes

I don't remember what I wrote about last on here. I need to get new pics up too. I have been working on the cammo paint. I also got a new (used)set of 285/75/16 AT's from a local used tire joint. They are just meant to be something to tide me over until the add-a-leaves come in for the front and 3" blocks for the back. I am going to go with 34x9x16 Super Swampers. I could runn bigger but these'll do me for now. I got the winch and bumper installed. I also got the brakes up to speed and the whole… Continue

Project Buford Gettin' Closer

Buford is presently getting some more work done. New passenger side rotor($65) being installed, driver's side rotor getting turned($15), and new Raybestos pads($40).

I also am installing some used AT's (285/75/16's)($140) just to pass inspection($30) until I install the lift. If anyone has some in better condition I am certainly open to trades.

Also I will be purchasing the steel($200) this coming week with which to build and install the new bumper and Warn winch($175). I decided to go with 2x… Continue

Bumper Ideas

I am looking for bumper ideas. I have removed what I am calling Buford's "Skirt," the running boards and factory front bumper. I must say he is looking quite "beefy." I am in the process of coming up with bumper ideas. Tube?, Channel?, Skid plate?, Plate?, Attachment?. It is clear that I am going to have to do some more research on all this.

I was thinking of 8" channel but am not sure now if that will be strong enough for ramming into embankments and trees. Anyway, I have a buddy that is going… Continue

False Alarm

Well, Buford didn't make it home yesterday. Not because of mechanical failure but because of financial failure on my part. Colin (4 yr old) got pink eye so i had to take him to the doctor and them to get drops for his eye. This was a setback in the plan.

At any rate, he is better now and Buford's homecoming has been postponed until Friday. It's supposed to rain anyhow. This will disallow my paint application so I will have to find something else to do. Perhaps I could locate a cb radio and an a… Continue

Buford Comes Home

Tomorrow is the big day...Buford (my new 1988 F-250 Project) comes home. He had to visit my good buddy john to have a few items repaired so that I can begin the next phases of his life. He got a new (used $200) Borg Warner 13-56 Transfer Case installed, New bearing and races for the front left, new warn premium hubs ($90) installed, a couple of new hoses as needed, all his fluids topped off, and new floorboard sections welded in for a total of $350. That brings the total investment, so far, to a… Continue

The bumper is from LMC there was some crazy iron thing on it when I bought it. It took me 3 days to cut all of it off. It has a 2.5 inch lift and 33s on it right now, but the body is shot I plan to pull the drive train and put it in a blazer. That is why I bought it.

don't get the LTBs they are not made for heavy trucks. They have to low of a load rating and came apart on my buds 3/4ton dodge.
