a GM turbo 700 with a Yota t-case. The 2.8L he has is from an 80's model Firebird its a better engine than the ones in a blazer/jimmy because of the intake. It is really narrow and short it will fit under a stock sammy hood and fenders. However th...

Isuzu puts the 2.8 in their troopers. late 80's early '90's I'd have to check - was thinking it might be a better fit if you used the Isuzu transmission & t-case. What were you planning for transmission?

He is running 6:1's in a toyota case, 4.88's in the axles with, a turbo 700 trans. He bought a wiring harness from a place in San Antonio for 500. the only issue so far is the front drive shaft needs to be a two piece with a pillow block, to go ar...

There have been people that do it, but from what I have heard and read, they do not like the angles like the 4x4 ones do.

I have an older 1.6L out of an 89, but it is 100% better then the 1.3L I had. I popped the first motor I put in it, but in its defense it had over 400K on it when I did the swap and it saw 8000 RPM all the time. I punished that motor for two years like that before killing it trying to get through a 5 foot deep snow drift that was about 20 feet long. As it was I still made it back to my trailer after finishing the run LOL! As for doing the swap, if you do it, take the harness out of the Tracker and just swap it in along with the motor. Forget about leaving it carb'd it is not worth the effort to not drop the EFI in.

I have a buddy with an RE sitting there, so I would likely go that route, but still putting some thought into it as he also has everything I would need to do up a 20R head on the RE and run it propane.

Thanks man, they are just called Long wheel based Samurais, LWB for short. This one is running a 1.6L I installed a couple years ago with the stock tranny and some lower T-case gears. Now it is sitting on Toyota axles and may soon be going complete Toy drive train.
