Any luck finding your brake line? You can go to your local auto parts store and carefully bend it to fit. I used coat hanger wire to make a pattern then bent the tube to match. Thats how I did it on my 70 F-250 i used to own.
Just my two…"
"bent axle (s),brnt rims, worn spring bushings and or springs, bent/ twisted frame are all items to check. A friend of mine had that problem with his 1972 F-100 and after he had replaced the springs and bushings and still had his shimmey. after…"
"Hi I'm Cal, from Springfield, Mo and I have a 1953 F-100 powered by a Y block. Yup, I said Y block. It really funny at shows when people walk by and remark about my "stock" truck ( 54 was the first year for the Y block, but mine is…"
Oh yes, there are so many F-1 and F-100 shows in California. Check out pick ups unlimiteds club site for a list. Just web search for west coast F-100 showsMy favorite one was the North/South run and Knotts berry farm shows. Haven't been out there for over 12 years though and things change. Did a couple of trips to the swap meet in Pomona for parts.
I also have a 55 custom cab that I bought when I was AF stationed at Nellis Nev.
Still waiting to get time to finish rebuilding the 302 for it.
Thanks Cal. I totally understand the lapse in messaging. Work (especially in this ecomony) takes priority. Not offended at all. I like the photos. I will put your show on my calender for next July. We will keep in touch between the time. I am starting back to working on my truck now and I am shooting for a completion time in April. Wish me luck! Happy Roddin...Talk to you later.
Hey Cal, Steve herefrom South Florida! Good to hear from an "Oval Rodder". I left Minot AFB the 17th of Nov,97 on Terminal leave and the time has moved faster than my wheels! I am working on getting back into the swing of things with $ and wheels! My telephone is: 941-875-9492. I am around most of the time and this fall is work time on wheels as nothing happs in Fl in Summer! It is Hell's kitchen down here so the "outback bodyshop" is closed! Laquer and Enamel doesn't look good with bugs in it! I am working on digging out the 47 Ford Coupe and going for a spin since I found out about 'Grundy Insurance"! Hey I don't Golf except for "Table Golf" they used to call it "Pool"! but I do get a bang out of firing up the old torch and cutting up a few sets of wheels to make one good custom. It is the way life should be! The Fords that slipped through my hands growing up and then traveling around with the USAF are numerous and are always on my mind. I wish I had the 56 ford F-100 and A-Bone 31 coupe! I guess you can't own them all! Are you going to run a straight axel and Y-block? I still like the feeling. I get upset when dudes screw up an F-100 with a GM motor and frame! I am going to start on my 59 F-100 this fall and I hope to tell you it will remain a 100% Ford! So, what are you planing to do with your truck? Hope to hear a good story! Sincerely, Steve.
Hello Cal. Sorry I have not been on for a while. Been sick. I'm doing much better now. I did not make the show. I wish I had known when. I missed the F-100 supernats in knoxville too (wife's birthday). If you have other dates for more effie get-togethers, please feel free to drop me a line. Thanks for sharing. Take Care.
