ok...project time....1989 Bronco XLT...The 302 it has is about to kick the bucket. Im thinking going old school with a 400M. The transmission runs but is crap it shifts really really rough and cant shift by itself(i have to decelerate for it to shif…
ok, I just found an 89 Bronco XLT and I bought it for $800 and when I got it the guy I bought it from supposedly put a new tranny in..when i brought it down from san diego and I was climbing it kicked a lot and it shifts very rough..it had a torque…
i would talk to a couple tranny shops in area and see what it would cost to rebuild it and then check parts store for a reman unit. normally you get alot better/longer warranty with reman. i have rarely seen a fluid and filter change make a trans work better but it is possible tha the spools in valve body are sticky. a trans fluid flush is way better than just changing oil, and a flush will also tell you how good the trans pump is. as far as spring break goes, ride on man
what does the trans fluid look/smell like? is it dark or burnt? i wonder if its in the computor or bad speed sensor. the lock up solenoid for the torque converter may also be the problem. the trans itself may be ok but it doesnt know what to do because its getting bad signals from computor.
