This is Leon Doran’s 1961 Plymouth Fury. “I first saw this car in 1992, keeping an eye on it. I finally had the chance to buy it in 1995, and it’s been part of the family ever since.” It has a V-800 engine, a 318 c.i. polyspherical V8 with a two-barrel carb. Gears are selected on the 3-speed automatic TorqueFlite transmission with a push-button shifter on the dash. Leon says other updates include an aluminum radiator dual reservoir master cylinder, Pertronix ignition, MSD coil and a 3-gauge panel.

Comment by Howard E.Simms on February 29, 2012 at 10:29pm Hello! Thanks for the inspiration ! Oh the shiny chrome.. push button shifter is fascinating. My '01 4Runner has one button - it's the only thing that makes me feel like i'm 'driving'
My '73 IH is just rusting away.... It has made it onto my 'to do' list though.
That's a start. I mean I think i'll try to get it started. Thx again for the inspiration.. I'm new to this site but like it alot....
awesume ride
Sweet looking cruiser!!!
You've got one beautiful old Fury, Leon! I used to own a '66 Fury 4 door w/ a 318 and a '68 2 door hardtop with a Commando 383. I miss both of them, even more when I look at your '61. You are one lucky man! Plymouth rules!
One GREAT looking ride Leon. Nice to see that more and more people are realizing the old "C Barges" were great looking cars a nd are restoring them. Thes C bodies make great cruisers and wonderful "Road Boats!"
when I had my '61 Plymouth the only body damage was the grill and it wasn't bad. at a local swap meet what did I find but an NOS 61 plymouth grill - price? $2.00.
on the car the grill is curved, in the box it's flat, it has to be bolted to the fenders to have shape.
