How heavy is the Camp trailer? Ideally you could take any old school CJ and do a frame stretch and box it up to support the motor. You could also get away with a mechanical 12V with a P pump that could make more then enough power with out all of the electronic issues you will have to deal with on the CTD.

Hey thanks. I've got smaller lighter vehicles that I'm not really worried about tearing up, but in order to do what I want them, I'd have to sink more money into the vehicle than it"s worth to start with!!

Dan, there is not much you will find stock to replace the grunt you have on the bottom end now, but your idea is not bad at all. I think a nice Scrambler with a newer diesel set up would be loads of fun. I would never off road my Dodge as it is DAMN heavy and there is nothing around here that would be able to get it out. Besides why wheel a tank when I have a light weight machine that goes where it is told LOL!

I've been wanting to build a CJ8 for a few years now and the Xtreme Scrambler has got me fired up! My current driver is an '06 Dodge CTD 4x4. I've got a few 4WDs in my yard(The Lot) as my wife likes to call it, but they're not really what I want. Most of the wheeling I do is mainly hunting. My truck is awsome for that purpose with the 6 spd man. in low and tcase in 4lo I can literally get out and walk next to it. Which brings me to my problem, am I out of my mind to want to put a later model CTD in my CJ8 project? It would allow me to tow my camp trailer to wherever i hunt and still have a rig to hit the tails with. I have taken my Dodge to places the CA Forest Serv. warns people in Wranglers to wheel at their own risk. I've had to stack rocks to get over more rocks and fold my mirrors in and rub my 35s on trees on both sides with my wife in the passengers seat crying the whole time. I've got deep scratches to prove it(no body damage yet, thank GOD!!). It's going to be hard for me to give up that raw power and torque for something smaller.

Great choice in 4x's! Here are a couple of sites to visit, for your Scout 2; www. superscoutspecialties.com and www.scoutmaddness.com. Scout maddness is aguy who loves the Scout 2, and a wealth of info about them. Super scout is the Wal-mart of International parts. Here is a tip from me. If you decide the IH v-8 is what you want to convert to, it doesn't matter which one you use; 304, 345, or 392---------- they're all the same block.

i wanna see more about tha SCOUT!!!! Im 15 and just got my first car which is a Scout II 1974 3.2l 4cyl engine and I really wanna know alot more about it!!
