Sleepers

The old unsuspecting cars that creep on you at a red light that are old, rust buckets, and granny cars that make you eat their dust when it turns green and leaves you feeling embarassed in your mustang, camaro, firebird, or whatever.

I got those comments too when I took my '69 F100 to it's first car show. all original, except the 460. One guy walked up to me, stood in my face and said... "How dare you? How dare you put that motor in that piece of sh**? It should be in my '53", then he laughed. More power!!!!!

haha yea thats what i like to see. i took my 63 f250 rust bucket to our local car show last summer and it got the same results. as they walked up my truck it was "why would somebody bring this?" and then they would get an eye full of a freshly rebuilt 460 with a little crome and a bad attitude and they were like "Ooo." props to the rust bucket rockets!!

Hi, this is a very active group that I joined yet haven't left a post. So, here is The Bisckit. It is way cool to take this car to a show; then sit and listen to the comments. As the people walk by they are curious as to why this car is in the show until they get to the engine bay; then the crowd builds. Go to my blog and check out the video.

Joe, that reminds me, back in 1973, I had a '70 Ford Torino, with a 351 Cleveland. Well, a guy with a brand new Vette, I blew his doors off. And I was only 18 at the time, too. Wish I had that car today.

This group is right up my alley! My current car is not much of a sleeper, they hear my exhaust and want no part of me. But when I was 16 I used to have a 75 impala that was a complete beater on the outside with about 400hp. I loved to race the little rich boys driving their dads cars on a wide, empty road near my house. There's a trick though, at the end of this 2 mile long road was a speed trap and I'd race them 1/2 way and turn off the road, leaving them to smile at the radar gun.... Oh yeah.... sleepers rule. ;)

Hey! Mine never looked as good as Weekend Wrench's does, but I had a 460/C6 combo in my stock '69 Ford F100. I had a 'Fear This' sticker in the back window, and one day this young man in a lowered Toyota was sitting next to me at a red light. He looked over at my truck and ask "why should I fear that?". When he caught up with me at the next red light, I looked down and said "don't mess with the big boys". He smiled and said something about it not being stock, and I just shook my head no. But the truck was so much fun to drive. Dual exhaust with shorty glass packs that set off car alarms when started in a parking log.

ive got a stock lookin 63 f250. bought it with a 292 in it. the little guy had to go. last summer i built a 460 bottom up with several performance parts. now its a screamer. next on the list is a 6 speed, 4.10s, street/strip locker, and traction bars. its a blast rollin through town showing new trucks and gt's what some real displacement can do!!!
