Sleepers

The old unsuspecting cars that creep on you at a red light that are old, rust buckets, and granny cars that make you eat their dust when it turns green and leaves you feeling embarassed in your mustang, camaro, firebird, or whatever.

Ryan71 "he probably could have built one to look like the cage in the back of a police car." Now that's the sleeper mentality. I love it. I'm forever looking for another "angle". I'd rather come up with all the ideas myself, but I'm old and medicated. My brain ain't as sharp as it once was so I find ideas where I can. Tim." Oh I can come up with ideas all day long. I just muck it up when I try and execute them. I like to think of clever ways to hide switches and NOS bottles. I think the best one was making one look like a fire extinquisher. Nobody ever tried it as far as I know. The other good one was forgoing a tach and placing a shift lift behind an idiot light ;)

I had a 1980 Chevette back in '86-'89. Not considered much of a car, but I loved it. I had plans to bronze it (LOL) and stick it in the yard for show when it wouldn't run any more. Seriously, I was going to either Pro Street it- or put a V-6 in and make a sleeper. Well, I'm sure I'm the only one on here with "tight finances" and couldn't find the money to work on it. Sold it. Wish I had another. Of course, I certainly don't need any more projects, but it would be fun. Tim.

Love that drawing by SPM 10! A Honda with a Big Block? That's a sleeper!

I just love the cars I am seeing in here! That 63' F100 in paticular. I am going to build myself another sleeper one of these days. Either a Chevy Caprice, or a 1977 Dodge Monaco (if I can ever find one). My buddies old caprice had a nitrous system fed from a system under the intake manifold. He had a 383 stroker motor in it all painted and accesorized to look stock. He got huge applause at the drags when he clicked off an high 10 second pass, then they banned him until he put a cage in it, which kind of defeated the purpose of the car. In hindsight, he probably could have built one to look like the "cage in the back of a police car. It was a former cop car after all.
