Just a reminder xScout, I've been driving these for a LONG time and they knock a LOT in the lower end. It sounds like hell but they still keep running strong with good oil pressure. I know of people who have driven one knocking for 50,000mls or more. My engine knocks pretty bad when I start it up but when it warms up it stops. I see no need to fix it. Yours may be worse than the one I'm driving but they still run strong when knocking in the low end, don't just take my word for it ask a few other IH old timers. Go to other Scout sites and ask them, like oldiron.com or bindergroup or old dominion binders started right here by Karl Bader. (notice the plug Karl?)

ok word that sounds like a good idea. I just sent it in to a mechanic, but if he cant do much ill find a new motor.

Oh yeah, great fun! It only dumped 5 inchs on us here on the hood canal, but it seems we were the lucky ones, everyone else in this state got only a dusting! I guess its the price I pay to live near the olympic mountains, Its sooo worth it too! The 4x4ing out here is amazing, now if only I could get my scout up and running smoothly...............

Nun anymore, we had 2 feet on the ground just a couple days ago but we got record warmth and rain and it all melted, BUT we are gonna have 2-3 inches by saturday morning. It might even be the same system that gave you the snow in yer pics from 2 days ago.

Well xScout I would forget the chevy idea, way too much work, when 345's are pretty easy to come by. There are lots of IH sites, or you could advertize for a too rusty to drive scout with a good motor. They are out there and it would make a good parts vehicle too.
