In would start with a Dart Little M block, a Bryant or Crower Billet crankshaft, Oliver, Bill Miller or GRP rods, pistons suitable for your application. A set of 13 or 15* Dart or Brodix heads with a custom grind Bullet camshaft. Dont forget the two Samsonite suitcases full of money its gonna take to build a 1000hp smallblock that will last more than 3 or 4 passes!!

Fellas, what's the best small block to start your project if you want to make around 1000hp? I'm trying to put it into a 79 Chevy malibu.

Well my junk builds 645hp N/A at 7200rpms. When thats not enough I have two Monte Smith Performance tuned plate kits that put total hp a little over 1000. Good enough to break really high end parts and push my 3000lb car into the 5.20s on a good day.
