Hey Bud,
There isn't much way to flatten the paint, that I know of, the HOK stuff is flat already, but I don't use it. One idea is to wipe some whiting across it when it is almost dry, another is to not clean all of the oil out of your brush (more of a mistake). I use either stabilo (blue or white) but they melt in the heat... I also use orange or white grease pencils and draw it really light. Then there is the wh*** pounce pattern thing... You will find that you will use just about anything, because you can't find what you think you have. :D
Is there a way to flatten the paint. Right now I'm using one shot and I know they make a flattener for it but everyone around here quit carrying one shot and now its all house of kolors lettering and striping paint. What do you guys use or do to flatten the paint?
Well, I will put it this way; Alan gets approached by 75 people a year wanting to learn how to stripe, so he is a bit hard on you in the beginning and ignores you a lot, until you prove yourself to him. He has a great sense of humor, and his knowledge is great to get out of him too. He's a torture tester of paints and products and uses regular old striping brushes, none of the fancy so-and-so's brushes. I learned a LOT from Glen Weisgerber, Howie Nisgor, Joe Sulpy, Clay White, Herb Martinez and apprenticed under Harry Henkel for 3 years striping and lettering trucks.
They are all great guys with their own quirks and all, but who doesn't have those?
