i had a v6 in my cutlass and know i have a 5.0 307 85-90 roller rocker cam and i have a problem with my motor mounts, they were welded in about 1/4 or 3/4 inch from the holes to bolt the mounts down to the frame of the car and the welds broke so my engine sits at an angle and that's causing stress on my trans and other componnets could i bolt the motor mounts back in the proper location without any problems.

it's great to see a forum for just us Olds people....not many places we can meet up and exchange ideas about our favorite car...no matter what year they are, they all share the same DNA...too bad they don't build them anymore...I'd invite everybody to join us in our chat room http://chat.parachat.com/chat2/login.html?room=rockettalk
I usually hang out there 8pm to 11pm EST during the work week nights. Gets kinda busy on the weeekends so I'm just there during the week, and I hang out at the lake most weekends.Hope to see some of you guys there. Look for my handle it's the same in that chatroom. Oldsdroptop

My first car was a 1970 Olds Cutlass Supreme Conv. Matador red white top and interior,Bucket seats center console. Rocket 350 all chromed out,Turbo 350 trans with shift kit. Loved that car, would lay lines hitting 2nd gear and chirp tires hitting 3rd gear at 80mph. Brings back alot of old memories.

No computer;-Im running a glove box mounted MSD 6btm box w/ timing adjust knob on dash.I like capacitive ignitions over inductive. The only vcd's are the brake booster/vac secondaries and btm box.The vacuum advance on the distributor is locked out and the advance weights are recurved for the powerband. The 67 442 came with a 400 with 350 hp 440 lbs torque and the turnpipe was an exhaust option.I saw one at an Olds carshow back in 2000.Another Olds I owned was a 1979 with a 260 v8 and 5 speed manual trans.I yanked the powerplant and stuck in a 383 stroker and T-10 4 speed and sold it to a friend a year later.Back when california was buying up junkers and shipping them to arizona my friend sold the 79 for $3500 and bought 4 rustfree 1965/66 F-85 Cutlass's for $2000 at the auction in the desert and shipped them home on the amtrak.Sold one car right away for $2500,repainted 2 and sold both for $8000.The fourth went under total rebuild and sits pretty in his garage. Peace

Yes I had two cars with 403's.One was a 1979 Trans Am Trik Edition. The other in a 1977 Olds Cutlass w/the E-37 package I beleive it was called.I rebuilt the 403 in the Trans Am and finding parts like intake manifolds, headers internal engine parts/speed parts;- was a labor of hell back in 1990.Yes you are correct on one point;- in 1971-1973/74 They put 307's in the malibu 4 door.Chevy also made a 302.But Olds never made a 305.Only Chevy.Olds dont really have a standard six model engine either. They used the buick v6 and pontiac v6 engines in the rearwheel drive models. The Olds 400 is considered the best production motor Olds built even over the 455.I still have the original 400 engine the car came with. Its in my fathers basement. Its been there almost 20 years now.It was put away with a spun bearing.I was waiting until the aftermarket speed part manufacturers made parts for it to make it a serious motor but when I priced the parts,-I could build 2 smallblock Chevys for cheaper.I had a 1983 15th Anniversary Hurst Olds with the 307.Tore the whole car apart and even rebuilt the 307 with a sportier cam and it still wasnt fast enough so I stuck a 1972 Olds Rocket engine in it w/compucam,-got the computer reprogrammed to work with it,added an ads superchip, transgo shiftkit and changed the rear gearing to 3.73.It was faster and better to drive but when I bought a 1985 Monte SS and just stuck a camshaft/headers/intake/carb/ignition systen and shiftkit in the car with a 305 and the SS smoked the Olds.Needless to say the Olds had to go.My 400 Chevy motor in my 69 has a solid mechanical camshaft and its redlining at 8400 rpms.Theres no way that you can build the same similar performance as my 400 Chevy as my 400 Olds for the same 2500.Peace

Well its quite obvious that you just own an Oldsmobile and arent a true enthusiest. In 1978/79 Oldsmobile put Chevy 305's in the Cutlass S models and in the 1982-1987 Oldsmobiles were built with 307's that were used in Buicks And Pontiacs too.Try building a 400 Olds motor to my specs and hp and youll be looking at 10 close to 10 grand.
