I have a 72 Monte Carlo and a 87 Super sport. The 72 is stock and restored. (with matching numbers) I just picked up a LT1 with transmission to drop in the 87 (wish me luck).

Got an 02 SS with tones of mods. Suspension, brakes, wheels/tires, interior, trunk, stereo, engine chrome, 1.9 ratio rockers, K & N intake system, gasket port matching on intake/heads, custom cat back with u-bend and resonator delete, Flowmaster mufflers. Researching about doing a Northstar swap.

I own a white 71 Monte Carlo that I have owned since 1984 It has a built 66 327 engine and fairbanks backed turbo 350. I have replaced the 256 gears in the back with 373's whch made a big improvement in performance. It has been on jackstands in my garage for about 12 years now. 1 day I will have to get it out again and relive some old times in it. It is a georgia car and has a very nice body. It hasn't seen rain since 84 when I restored it. Probably have put well over 50K on it all through the 80's, 40k were on the stock 350 before I changed the engine out. The interior is pretty much bone stock except for the stereo and racing tach on the steering column. Still love Monte Carlo's after all these years. But I had a buddy in ohio that got me hooked on Oldsmobiles so I have been wrapped up in them for many years now. I own 2 fully restored convertibles, both 455 cars. I have started the Monte Carlo this year and will need to install 1 of those new 1 piece oil pan gaskets that are available now ( it leaks along the side of the pan so I'm just going to replace the gasket and be done with it once and for all). Would love to hear from you. I have my oldses listed on my page here. Great talking to you.Oldsdroptop

At the moment I drive a 73 monte with a factory 454/400.It has alot of options that include, swivel buckets,console,p'windows,p/locks,tilt,cruise,air.I added power trunk, pass side remote mirror and factory tach and gauges. My first car was a 75 monte I bought in 84 from the original owner.Since then i have had twenty 73-77 montes, only had 4 at one time.I guess you can say I'm a MONTEHOLIC.

I have a black '85 SS. It has a 375Hp 350ci.The motor has roller rockers, Summit Racing Heads, Comp Cam,Edelrock Torker II, a Holley 750, 9.89 to 1 comp, and a full Accel ignition. Thats backed by a TH350 with a 2500 stall and Eaton posi. There is also two 12" JBL subs that can hit up yo 136db. The outside is stock so far. I also have a upper tubular A-arms, SSBC bolt on calipers, Hurst Quarter Stick, Auto Meter guages, Dynomax headers, 2 1/2' mandril bent exhaust, and some deep throaty Flowmasters. I plan on some new bushings, traction bars, and a 3200 stall. All for better drag strip passes. I also plan on repainting the car black with some red racing stripes like the ones that came on 72 Camaros.

My first "driveable" car was a 1978 monte that I picked up for $1000.Someone dropped a 350 and dual exhaust in it, and I fell in love. Next I bought a 1984 Monte with the 305 Quadrajet, had that one a couple years. Never had any money to put into these cars, but now that I'm a little older I finally have a chance. A few years ago I picked up another 1978 Monte, this time it is bone stock. It came from Texas so it doesn't have the typical frame rot. I picked up a LQ4 out of a '02 chevy pickup 6 months ago and plan on throwing it under the hood. My plan for the body is to paint it black, strip most of the chrome off except around the windows, shave hood ornament, lower 1-2 inches, and add a set of the new black torque thrust M's. I love seeing other 78-80 Montes because everyone does theirs different and I like to use certain elements in my project. For anyone looking to use a LS series engine in a G-body, be prepared. There is some extra expences that you generally dont here about up front. But I found a wealth of information and help planning my project from jimsperf@comcast.net. It may be a little spendy but my opinion is that to get a powerfull EFI engine in your ride the LS-LQ series is it. Exspecially when you can pick up a used complete LQ4 for under $1500.

Update on the LT1 that I planned to put in my 87 SS. MY son and a long list of gear heads changed my mind
I'm going with a Chevy 400 SB. The 400 has a 350 crank in it do you think I should leave it in or go with a 400
crank. I've always been told there is no replacement for displacement. (meaning I should go with the 400 crank)
Any feelings on this?

just got a 88 SS white/burg. original paint/rims/inter, pwr wind/locks, bucket seats/console at, with a supposed "jasper stage 2 350 " (300hp) . headers, rpm air gap intake, msd dist/ignition, alum radiator. engine has a rod or main bearing knock but runs good and sounds (lopey) like it has a little cam in it. emailed jasper today with serial #'s to verify/get specs. i am gonna have to pull engine soon to refreshen. i'm kinda torn (like you) on which way to go. i have been getting alot of varying opinions also, build up the 350, stroke it to 383(my choice), find a 400(good luck), or be different with a 454/468. good luck with your build. keep posting, would like to see what you come up with.
