I agree with Brett. Sheldon, I would avoid all conversations of that sort. There's not much point to it.

The computers in modern cars learn and relearn how to operate the engine as the car is driven. Technically, it's called a closed loop feedback system. That means that input from the sensors is used to calculate how much fuel and ignition timing (and in some cases, how much valve timing) to input into the engine to get the desired results.

In simple terms, the computer learns how to operate the engine for best results on the fly.

You gotta be kidding .... Wonder where that old wives tale came from?

I had an arguement Or "discussion" With a guy about aftermarket exausts on feul injected vehicles. He says that aftermarket exhausts destroy the computer. I'm no mechanic ,Neither was he. But I was saying you see new mustangs or even new hondas with aftermarket exhausts. and from what I see they run fine. What do you guys think?

That would be my choice too Brett, a nice cat-back set-up would probably be in that price range without the chance of breaking parts. A nitrous set-up can be just as inexpensive but if you do something wrong you break big money things like the engine. Besides you'll end up with a nice rumble and I would think that if they don't list a cat back for the roadmaster they do list the impala ss or caprice of the same vintage

Probably the best bet on that small a budget would be a bigger diameter exhaust system.

how could I add more horsepower to my 5.7L V-8 1994 Roadmaster with a 300.00 budget?

Hey Glen,
The problem that your having could be from haing your steam holes on your head gasket not drilled out. If you changed the heads at some point they may not have steam holes in them and they need to be drilled out also. Here is a link that will show you where the steam holes are at.

Unlike the 350 SBC the 400 needs the steam holes because they have siamesed bores. Hope this helps.

MIKE, YOU CAN USE THE PUMP YOU HAVE AND BUY A REGULATOR FOR THE CARB AND SET THE REGULATOR BETWEET 6 TO 9 PSI DEPENDING ON YOUR SET UP.
