I hope the car starts moving forward, backwards; im even down with the car moving up and down!! LOL guys.. SPIKE.. if your asking me or any of us about our personal oppinions, i would vote for the 427. Simply because the sound of the name just gets me "as hard a diamond" ( oops, did i just say that?) sorry guys, just got excited, its a BOWTIE THING....

I have a philosophy, 'no news is good news' That is always a problem. Aparently no one has any tuning problems. I am thinking about what C.I. engine to put in my car for next year. I can make a 355, a 383, 406, 427, 434 C.I. with Hilborn F.I. do you, or anyone else have any suggestions? The car is a 1967 SPE FED. I have the 355" already assembled (needs O.H.) I have most of the parts: Cranks, cams, heads, rods, but will need pistons.
Anyone have pistons to fit any combo above ? OK IMPala, here we go.

BTW, I have a "was running" 1951 FordOMatic with it's "aircooled" convertor.
If you see someone that wants an automatic for their flathead Ford, Make Offer.
I is interesting that Ford experimented with air cooling instead of oil cooling for a few years. I had a 1953 Ford 2 door with one of them. Bye

That was only when they were starting a search for automatics. Remember Olds had a Hydramatic 4 speed trans by 1948. Cad was earlier. Chevy had a PG (iron case) in 1950, 1st year for Bel Air 2dr HDTP. Ford had theirs in 1951 1st year for Victoria 2dr HDTP. I have a lot of useless info.

I forgot, The Dodge "GyroMatic" tras had a ' different ' shift pattern. You know how a regular column shift pattern is, Neutral in the center & then you lift the lever & pull down for 1st. Push up to neutral, drop then up to 2nd. Right???
Well, the Dodge pattern was Neutral is in the middle (like normal), Push up towards 2nd, But that is 1st in the Dodge. Ready to shift to 2nd, Pull straight down to what should be high geat, BUT, it's not in the Dodge, it's 2nd. In order to get high gear, press the gas pedal until you are rolling 20-30 mph then lift you foot and wait for the "click" or "clunk" of the trans "self selecting" into high gear. Then you motor on into the sunset!

Back , in the beginning of time (as I know it), I had a 49 Dodge Coronet. Flathead 6, a "gyromatic" 3 speed semi-auto trans. It had a reputation as "The Gutless Wonder". I don't know why, it ran!!!! That's ALL important, to a 15 YO male. I did my practice driving divided between it & my Dad's '50 Buick Special! A straight 8 4 door.
My dad tested my driving by hanging off the drivers OPEN!!! door! That made me so nervous! It's a wonder I didn't kill him by running over him.
Stay tuned for the next Thrilling Episode of Driving without mistakes.

OK,Here Goes,After a disasteroud day fighting this thing,I decided to try something.I have always set my float levels as prescribed to right at eye sight level, and has always been great at the track and on the street, but I got to thinking that starvation would probly never be a problem on the trail since wide open blasts are far,few and short,so I lowered the float levels below where I would normally run them,Guess what, success. So far on what trails I have been able to hit,no more probem(so far),we will see if this is the case on some really steep trails.
