I just bought a 2009 F-150 and I'm thinking to remove the muffler and go straight pipe, will that help my gas milage and horsepower or should I consider a high performance muffler?

Sure it will help with your hp, but it will also make your truck illiegal in all 50 states. Noise. Your best bet is to go with the high performance muffler. There are a lot to choose from, so do some research and find theone that best suits your needs.

From my experience on new vehicles if you lower the back pressure to much it will kill your fuel milage around town in stop and go and on the highway it will increase milage. I would also look into a street legal cat back system.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for.

I have a 2007 F-150 with a 5.4L. I took off the factory muffler and ran a cherry bomb vortech muffler. My gas milage stayed the same or got better and the horsepower increased plus a great sound.
