Just Kidding all you "F" people out there.
F----O----R----D has been all over my tail for a long time. When they catch me I am sure I will have a new found respect. LOL

Proud of ya Spike...That "F" word get's pretty tough for us REAL CAR people sometimes...LOL

Never could figure out why those "F" people with early model small blocks ran one head gasket upside down and backa$$words ! LOL

Nothing like a REAL small block at 13:1 and 9,000 to get your heart thumping

LOL

ProCharger good! Big Bang!!! .. Not so good. I didn't have the formulas handy and my guesses are poor as I don't work on BBCs I'm not too bad at BBFords (HA, did it right).

The reason I was asking for the math check is that Mr250Shot stated that he was at .060" over on a 454 BVlock, Assuming stock rod length and a factory crank, wouldn't that put him up on cubes anyways?

I forgot the equation, but, a simple rod change should put him at or near 496, wouldn't it?

Help Me Out Here Folks

Good point Spike and thanks Kevin.
I wasn't paying much attention to the name, after all, I am pretty sure Spike does not have a sharply pointed head and I am not a Kid of a King who is a Man...LOL

Don't know what get's in to me sometimes...JUST HAD TO STATE THAT...LMAO

Since Spike didnt say anything, I am going to say that you were right with your math Jerry. I think you two are more knowledged on the engine building than I am. And I guess i was lucky with the nitrous during that time. The crate engine that was originally was in the Camaro had those Hypereuctic pistons, and we ran 175 shot on them. We did go to forged later, but what got us was the fuel solenoid failing. Instant BANG! Why it is getting a ProCharger now!

I'm curious, with a name of MR250Shot, would I be out of my mind that he plans on Nitrous being in his future ? If so he is best served by Forged pistons. If he runs the stock CAST pistons, he probably get by with up to 100 hp shot !?! Maybe.
But don't use Hypereutectic pistons. While they are stronger than cast, they will hold on right up to the time they crack & shatter, sending litle bits of hard aluminum to beat the chamber & cylinder before creating mayhem in the bowels of the engine. After all that verbal diarreah!
Nitrous + Forged = good ... Cast=usable with care ... Hypereutectic=BAD

Aaron, I would guess you might have a bad sending unit or your oil pump is weak/plugged. As you start to drive your oil pressure rises turning out the light. The best way to check is to use a mechanical gauge to check the pressure at operating temp. a good range would be between 30-50psi. My 92 S10 4.3l V6 runs at about 35-40psi warmed up at idle and 45psi under load, but my 85 305 V8 Iroc warmed up will show 25-30psi at idle and climb to 40-50 psi under load. Odds are it's the sending unit, but Kevin, Jack or Jerry may have some other ideas for you.

Hey Kevin and Spike,
Am I on track with the info for Mr250Shot and his build or should I go back to school with my math?

Since you are at .060" over now, I don't think boring more would provide a nemefit. Stay with a flat top piston to keep the compression ratio under control. Stock Rods, .060" over bore and 119cc Combustion Chamber, if my math is close would put you at around 9.4 : 1. Stock pistons without power adders should be good for up to around 525hp or a little over. If your pistons are flat top and in good shape, re-use them, if not, Scat makes a good set as do TRW and WESCO. Let your budget be your guide. Check out Jeg's, Summit, etc... and see what meets your budget and covers your needs.

Good Luck and Have Fun
