Check in at www.standard1320.com Tom is a member. He built it in 1960 i believe. It was a cover car. on Hot Rod Magazine in 1960-1961 ? Previouswas the twin Buick and earlier was the single Buick Chassis' are by Kent Fuller.
Ron Pellegrini drove the "Showboat when Tom was unable to be in two places at once. I have a video made by Sturdevant Torque wrenches in 1962. at Indianapolis. He did also race his T roadster Nailhead powered as well. The Barntormer was his Chrysler Hemi car around '63-'65 I don't remember. But if you look at cacklecars.com or cacklefest.com, one will have it. Ron Johnson did the 'repop' on the Barnstormer as well as others (Chizler, etc.) bye

O-My GOD...He Has Changed A-LOT.
Thanks A Lot for finding and posting that video Jack.
I Met Tommy only that one time through a friend of mine. My Buddy was working at some speed shop off of Van Nuys Blvd. in Los Angeles and got to know him (Tommy) while working there. I wish I could remember that guys name. Sooner or later it will come to me, Andy, something if I recall anything .

Man...I am getting old. That's o.k. though...I will stay the age I am now forever and always 16 at heart...LOL

Kingman, Tommy says it was built 50 years ago. No idea how long he ran it at the track after it was built though. You'll like to see this:

Man Spike, you bring back memories!!!!!
My first T-Bucket was a 15' T with a 20" bed, suicide front end, Pontiac Rear out of an old Star Chief and powered by a V8/60 Flat Head Ford with an old Truck Granny Gear Low 4-speed. We would race that thing against the Vette's. Pull the front wheels off the line about 3 feet through first and second gear and then shut it down as the Vette blew by. Beat them off the line though....MAN WAS THAT FUN !

I remember (can't recall the year) WAY BACK THOUGH...TV Tommy IVO built a Monster 4 Engine, 4-wheel Drive and ran it down near Los Angeles in the Washes. I had my 55' back then and actually beat Tommy the first run because he couldn't hook the thing up. TONS OF SMOKE FROM ALL FOUR TIRES AND ONLY MOVED ABOUT 6 FEET....SO FUNNY !

That 55' was a monster...Moved the 327 back 16" in to the driver's compartment, running a Power Glide at the time with the old front twin bolt motor mounts. Had a pontiac rear that we welded the side gears up on so I could have REAL POSI...LOL

Man...I Miss those days..

I'd love to have a flat Ford AR-DUN conversion. Arkus Duntov designed them well before he came to America and started at the Chevy factory hopping up Corvettes. Of course, we all remember he designed the famous "DUNTOV" 30-30 cam. I put one in my 283 that was in my 29 A Sport coupe. I have a flathead in my 49 Ford sedan that would be soo cool to power it with an Ardun.
Interestingly, I had a '53 Ford Customline 2 door with a '57 Pontiac 347" with Hydramatic & Pontiac rearend. My first auomatic trans. car. OH, I had an overdrive 3 speed trans in the A, ran it by solenoid alone. Wired the shift lever with welding rod to hold it in O'drive. I put a toggle switch on the shifter (homemade) that way I had SIX forward gears simply by flicking that switch. You 'toggled' while the clutch was in, shifting to the next higher gear. then just let off the throttle a second while toggling and you are now in overdrive of that same gear. 1st, then 1st over, 2nd then 2nd over, etc. It was fun to drive alongside a car and let them hear 5 gear changes

That's funny Spike,
I too am a Chevy Nut, But, my very first project car was a 53' Ford with the flat head, three on the tree with a pull out overdrive. My Dad and I installed the old Ardin / Duntov Overhead Conversion Kit and a Supercharger with 2 Strombergs and moved the shifter to the floor. WHAT A TANK !

You know...that same engine, less the conversion and supercharger now runs a tractor about a block away from my old house. HOW COOL IS THAT?

After I got tired of changing head gaskets along side the freeway on that old boil maker, i went to the overhead Chevy's and have NEVER looked back.

it's funny, I own nothing but Fords (& a Do dge) But I'm a Chevy guy! How'd that happen ? My 1st car was a '49 Dodge 4door, Flat 6 with GyroMatic, (a clutch operated, manual shifted, semi-automatic, sort of).
As for a Mustang- it's gotta be a manual. Either a 4 speed, or 5 sp. Manuals are more fun. I had a 67 Mustang GT 390 4 sp with a factory posi. (or is that a Chevy term ?) Open track events are well suited to a manual 5 speed as it's easier to pick the correct gear for each segment around the track (parking lot). Oh well I gotta go pay last years taxes.

Looks like pretty decent numbers for a street, pump gas engine.

Not bad for $5,000.00

Wow guys, lots of posts! I had to go back to page 3 to find Kingman's numbers on that engine.

I went with Mr250Shot's numbers for a 468 (i.e. 454 bored .060" over). I picked heads, cam, intake and headers (2" primaries) that were all reasonably close to the data Kingman listed. If I get more ambitious, I might go look up the Patriot heads, Lunati Voodoo cam, Merlin intake and so forth - then input that data.

Check it out:

Peak Tq =467. @ 4800 RPM
Peak HP =464. @ 5700 RPM
