Hi everyone. New to the page & group. My wife & I acquired her fathers 2001 1500 Chevy extended when he passed away in 2006. This is plain Jane  4.3L v6 trk with a new Jasper 4L60e transmission. Truck has 122,000 on it and is in good shape but needs some tlc. Rocker panels and box sides to start. She & I would like to keep the truck and make it a tribute daily driver, sometimes car show vehicle. Upgrade to an LS motor with fuel injection and in the 300-400 H.P. range that gets 20-24 mpg is the target for the engine. so here are the questions we have. Will the 4.3L 4l60e be able to be used, do I need to upgrade brakes, will the rear differential need upgraded, will the stock fuel pump work, and this truck doesn't have cruise and we would like to add this option as well. Any and all help would be appreciated as well as if I missed  something important please point that out too. We both thank you for your time.

I have a question about power steering. My 97 Tahoe has what seems to be bubbles in the lines. Sometimes as I'm going around corners on the highway the steering wheel seems to become hung up. Then if I turn it with a little more effort it works just fine. Anyone ever seen this before?

Thanks, Mike

Hey all, I joined this group to help me get started on my project that I have owned for a little more then 10 yrs now and have done most routine services on such as change oil and plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and belts. 66 C10 LB Stepside. SB 350 with 4 speed w/ overdrive. I am stuck as to what I need to start doing I have to many ideas floating in my head to start to do this or do that. I would any suggestions on where to begin. I use to drive this truck daily until I bought a another truck.

Thanks

JC

looks like a decent truck, slow and steady is the way to go, so you dont forget anything. I want to build a shorty crew, i have built several chevys, and Broncos, in the past, or build another Bronco, my last Bronco Got totaled in a head on collision,( full story on BRONCOS ) site, I hope no body gets mad at me for mentioning a ford on a chevy site but i have nothing against Ford or Chevy. The profile picture is of my 80 bronco that was totaled, and im still crying about it,(WAWAWAWA)!!!!  I would be interested in a 1978 thru 1996 full sized bronco or a 1974 thru 1989 chevy crew cab long bed SRW.

So I shredded the u-joint that connects the drive shaft to my rear axle yesterday. I was lucky and it didn't pierce the gas tank when it came apart. So I got a new one and put it all back to gather. And Ive checked it several times and everything seems perfect but when I get to 40 it starts to vibrate the truck nothing radical just noticable feeling. It gets to its worst at 50 then starts minimizing again. The rear connection did have some chunks of metal missing but nothing to cause a failure but could it have made the piece unbalanced overall giving it a vibration effect to the truck?

Im just worried of it coming apart at higher speeds and tearing the gas tank open which will cause a fire quickly.

Got rid of my 1964 chey and found a 1961 chey with a step side long box.Frame has been sandblasted and painted black, cab has been blasted also and starting to weild in rockes and floor, cab corners, got a 350 2 bolt main to go in having fun.I got rid of 64 and fell for the look of the 61 long box ,I like the knee knocker door  and the rounded front window.
