Thanks Arthur .... the mechanical pump on my engine has a return line built in so that should solve the return problem. I had the truck out yesterday and it ran as well as it ever has with the bad tranny. After I got home my son borrowed it to run down town ... heard him start up and disappeared down the driveway only to almost immediately reappear ... backing into the yard ... tells me there was a crunch and the truck won't go forward any more .... GEEZ I drove that thing across Canada hauling a U Haul full of my junk and didn't have a problem ... he gets in it (he's no teenager ... he's 40) and it immediately croaks ... Gonna make it difficult to make it to the body shop on the 1st of August .... I haven't investigated it yet .... I'm hoping I can make it mobile as I didn't plan on dropping the motor and tranny in before it came back from the body shop .... SIGH .... such is life ...

Oh,,,by the way Rick,,,I noticed the little Extreme badge on the door skin,,,finally,,,the badge was used correctly,,,I couldn't believe it,,,when GM put that name,,on a 4-banger,,,S-10,,,there was nothing Extreme about it,,,but that's the way GM thinks these days. Now,,,if they would have put that badge on the same truck,,,and planted an LS1 in it,,,that would have made me a happy camper.

This goes out to Rick Bacon,,,your truck is unbelievable,,,I just wish with all of the work lay-offs,job losses, medical issues, and everything I have to deal with,,I had the money to complete "Thumper" the way she needs to be done.I've had a design plan for her for sometime now and I was doing pretty good with the plan, and then the economy took a nose dive and the cancer, heart attacks and diabetes decided to start dictating my life and my little Baby got put on the back burner,,,but believe me,,I will not give up,,,I will prevail and complete her,,,but once again,,,your truck is in a class by itself,,,absolutely stunning paintwork.

That is exactly the way mine is running and I have had no problem with fuel delivery,,,although,,I am thinking of putting another electric fuel pump on,just for the fact of having a more constant fuel flow. You can run the original, but you'll have to get a Holley or another brand of fuel pressure regulator and install a fuel return line becausae,,,obviously,,your tank pump is going to be pushing 35-45 psi.Holley's part number is BP-805r,,,don't qoute me on that,,,but you can find it at the Holley website. Also,,,there is a company with a website called,,,CarShopInc,,,this is the regulator I bought,it's not as expensive as Holley,,but then again,,it's not built as good as a Holley. They use a ProComp regulator and install a fitting into one side that meters the return line,,it works ok,,but it seems like if you got the smallest amount of dirt in the restrictor,,you might have a problem,,anyway,,,it does work and it's about 45.00 bucks compared to Holley,,which is about a 100.00,like I said though,,I've been running a mechanical and I haven't experienced any problems.Oh,,,by the way,,,I actually tried a 7 psi electric fuel pump and left the mechanical in place,,just in case the electric ever failed,,,but yes ,,,you can run a mechanical and pull the fuel through the in-tank pump.

It has been suggested that all I have to do is to disconnect the power to the electric fuel pump and hook up the mechanical to the lines and the mechanical will be able to draw gas through the disconnected electric pump. Can anyone confirm this ?

Hi Guys ... Just getting started dropping a stock 350 4 bbl and 700R4 into my 1995 S10 and have a question which I am sure someone here has run into before. My truck has the 2.2 5 speed combo so obviously has electric fuel pump setup. The engine I am using has a Q Jet and mechanical fuel pump ... with 2 lines to the fuel pump and a single to the carb. What do I need to do with my fuel system to work with the Q Jet ? The engine is an older model with 1.94" Valves .. I think they are designated as 882 heads ... the best of the worst and I am hoping it is a 4 bolt block but research we have done says this particular block casting came in both 2 and 4 bolt main versions. The engine came out of a 4x4 half ton Chevy.

The other question I have may be dumb ... but what is the easiest way to prepare the block for paint? It has been painted recently but needs to be redone before it goes in my truck. Lots of chips etc. I picked up a spray bomb of Chevy Orange Engine paint .... was wondering if brake cleaner would be a good degreaser before the spray job? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey, guys- Just thought you might dig on seeing a pic of my S-10. It started out as a stock 4-cyl. 5-speed shop truck for my shop in California, but when the 4-banger blew up I dropped in a 350, and things kind of got outa' hand from there. Now it has a 408 with Dart heads, 6-71 blower and twin Demons. It dynoed at 780 horses, on pump gas! and I drive the hell outa' the thing! It's been all over the country. My lead photo was taken when I was driving it through Hollywood. You should've seen the smokey burnout I did in front of the Ferrari dealership on Wilshire Blvd!!! Good Times......
