Bad 'Burban Comment by Bad 'Burban on November 27, 2008 at 6:16pm
Hello everybody! I'm a newbie here and I have a couple of questions. To fulfill a long desire of my wife, I'm buying her a Suburban(Christmas surprise). Not just any old Suburban though...a loaded 2003 2500 LT 8.1L beast! Definitely overkill since we won't be towing anything more than our 67 VW Beetle or a utilitly trailer, but, it was available for the right price. Here come the questions though... First, we found that an exhaust manifold bolt is broken off. Should I just replace it and keep all the stock equipment, or would this be a convenient time to start some upgrading? Would any upgrades improve MPG? HP increases aren't really a necessity since this 'Burban will be mainly be a grocery getter, sports equipment hauler used mainly around town. Second question, what are the best sources for aftermarket add-ons like a cow-catcher(grill guard), bug shield, lights, ...? Last question, since I am fairly new to the 4x4 world, yet mechanical inclined and able, what other 'issues' should I watch out for or consider regarding this beasty 'Burban for my wife. I look forward to any responses and potentially a long 'relationship' here getting to know people. Thanks in advance. Kevin
SAYNOTOMONSTERTRANNY Comment by SAYNOTOMONSTERTRANNY on November 14, 2008 at 6:42am
I would just like to say Monster transmission/www.eatmyshift.com is a VERY non professional company! The customer service is horrible!!! The warranty is HORRIBLE, wait there is no warranty!!! If the tranny has to be removed, YOU have to pay to ship it back to Monster. If Monster finds something wrong YOU have to pay them to fix it. You have to sign a piece of paper signing your warranty AWAY before you can get tech support to talk to you.....BS! So if your looking for a good transmission DO NOT use this company!!!

i have a 02 silverado ls regular cab. it has a 4.8 in it which is not that exciting i have tried to upgrade it when i can. so far i have put shorty headers, a flowmaster exhaust, cold air intake, and a throttle body spacer. it seemed to wake it up. hope to get a programmer and add a shift kit. if anybody has any suggestions feel free to let me know. im fairly new at this. so any advice will help.

I have a 2004 5.3 chevy, I've up graded to a cooled air intake and cat-bak flowmaster exaust, any other low-budget add-on's worth doing.
