I've been told that you can't put true dual exhaust on a 3rd gen. camaro and yet I see one in a nearby town with it done. The explanation I've got is groundclerance. I want to now if It can be done with out this problem?

summit racing has a kit made by dynomax it says 82-89 but im gonna put it on myy 92 it looks like it runs down the passenger sideof the car i also met a guy at the track who said he had it down the center along the drive shaft it exitted like a covette exhuast but i havent been able to find any shorty headers that would allow that the dynomax kit bolts right to there black jack or cyclone headers in which i bought headman so i hope it will work it looks like a ball type set up the kit is a WLK-89009 from summit

The suggested kit, if it indeed runs down the passenger side will require you to do some fabrication work as well as provide the mufflers. Now having been under my 85 not more than a week ago, I have to ask where the hell are you going to put those mufflers without having trouble with ground clearance issues, or being too close to something like the drive shaft or fuel tank? you might squeeze a pair of cherry bombs next to each other (assuming this kit follows the factory exhaust) but they better be mounted solid or they'll be rattling against each other, the floor or hitting the pavement when you pull into or out of a driveway. I'd also like some more info from Radames, becuz if hiz cuz did it without them problems I'd like to replicate for my camaro too. Unfortunately I am planning on sticking with my 3" cat back to 2 1/2 dual out muffler, at least it looks like dual exhaust and honestly it sounds pretty tough

this question popped up again, and this time I contacted summit about their kit, after a couple emails I got a diagram out of them. Here's how their set up works, it does run down the stock location. The mufflers go into the stock spot as well. Now here's the catch, both pipes dump on the driver side. If you like that look you're cool, for me that's cheesy so I'll be sticking with what I've got for now.

Hello, if your car is stock ride hight then yes is the answer. even if it is lowered it is possable, the trick is Oval tubing.
you have to also use a round muffler also like a SLP shotgun or a Cherrybomb. you can find Oval tubing at Spintech.com

the kit went in fairly well and iused trush turbos with it i had to cut off the flanges and use weld the ball type collector to it and i will need a torch toheat some pipes up to tweek it some and tuck it up in a little better a muffler shop said thell do it for around $125

geno the problem with 2 into 1 back out to 2 is u lose velocity there for losing hp the kit really wasnt that bad and with some crome tips and a little tweeking it was worth the noticeable hp gains by haveing true duals
