Russ,
Once again I dont know where you get your news, but knowing from actual sources, meaning people that worked in the plants, THEY DID NOT MAKE $75 AN HOUR!!!!!!! PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!! Secondly, your Toyota buddies are yanking your chain if you think they are getting 30 MPG when getting that much horsepower out of a Supra. And thy also didnt "just" change it to a single turbocharger. Besides the fact that setup is very elaborate, and even more expensive than you realize, there had to be considerable amount of modifications to the engine, FUEL system to handle that. And sure, I hate the fact that you cant get an American made replacement part that easily anymore. Why once AGAIN I will say this. If we as consumers demanded such parts, and didnt buy the imported crap, the suppliers would meet our demands. And while you bash the unions, which their efforts in the early years has given us all, even YOU the quality of living you have come to enjoy, they are not the problem either. Yes, the government is not the solution. Yes, they do tax the American companies. Unfortunately, that is how the govt get their income! But I guess you think that is OK that the same income should go everseas to someone else? And those plants you so lovingly defend? Thye do pay lower than average wages, and also dont give the worker the benefits either. But listening to you that is OK that is helps hold that American down and struggle more. In conclusion I will say if you want to believe your dissillusions, please do so somewhee else! If you had noticed, you havent convinced anyone here of your self nobility! So go and believe your imported saviors!

Weel guys the $75 came right form the news, Nad why is that the ford chev and chrysler plants are lawing off? maybe they just believe the nascrap thing and build cars that all look the same. I personally know a couple kids in town here in minnesota who have cars in particular a turbo charged toyota supra 600 plus horse power and 30 mpg. I don't think they have done anything other then take the twin turbo off and install a single. And think about this... The import companies were built buy AMERICANS , factories, cars, ect. in all reality how much of the American car is actually built here? I look ed in my cars and found made in mexico, made in canada, made in japan, get my point, guys the american car isn't too far off from the imports when the majority of the parts are out sorced, you can't even go to NAPA and get made in america parts. Adn why is cheaper to move the factory out of the country then to continue to run it here? ???????? Because the government, taxes the hell out of the company and then pushes through the legislation that forces the company to pay, higher costs, the uion forces the cost up too, I am all for getting a good wage, but if it cost me my job how good is it?

tarrifs, anybody remember learning aboyt these in school? they are what foreign countries pay to sell their products in America. there was very little on imports then they build factories here and guess what. no tarrifs!!!!!! Russ, how many factories do you think the imports would have if we quit buying them??I live 70 miles from a toyota plant , there are people from my town to work there. here is the kicker, there are two Ford plants here where i live that are laying off. the workers here union and non-union workers have taken pay cuts, shut downs, retirement cuts, insurance benefits cuts just to keep the doors open while toyota just keeps on truckin.why? because the american people keep buying them. yes the automakers do have some blame in this, the gonerment to, but the majority of it falls to the American customer. They wouldnt have to make them if we didnt nuy them. russ no offense but if you belive a 500hp honda is getting 30 mpg i ' ve got some ocean front property in Arizonia for sale .

Kevin Lee Comment by Kevin Lee on June 29, 2009 at 9:29pm
Russ, like many that like to like to thin they are well informed, you are not. The assembly line workers are trained for all positions on the line. My best friend USED to have a job at the Fenton Dodge truck plant. And I can certainly tell you his wages were not even close to that $75 an hour you think. And I certainly dont feel insulted, as I am the one backing my country, my people more than you! If you dare read on through this area, you will see that I have caled out for such unity, and have said it is up to us to fix this country. Toomany prefer to whine about how things are, expect the govt to fix it all, the complain again about the expense. I have said it already, just insist on American products from American companies, and this country will prevail! And yes, I too drive a Chevrolet, and always had an American car, all GM except for the '66 Mustang I once had. So dont try to turn things on me Russ, I am not the one cutting down the owrker, and trying to justify foreign countries trying to say they are american companies!
Russ Luther Comment by Russ Luther on June 29, 2009 at 9:17pm
Looks like I struck nerve. Comon guys the union auto worker is NOT worth 75 dollars and hour. Just to stand there and do one Job, they can't even help out in another part of the plant,if they run out of work they just stand there. and get paid 5 times and much as i do. Yes there has been a lot of bad business sence in the car world but to blame it on the imports I don't think is totally fair. I do not drive any imports I drive AMERICAN I have a Chevy truck and a Cadillac, as well as my Dodge. AS far as American unity, please don't insult yourself, if Americans would unit like other countries do we would not have the problems, with our government that we do. Let see we can spend our way out of debt, NOT

Russ, you obviously dont feel the need for American unity. Go back and watch more of your imported programs and feel like you are doing something special
Rumble Bee 1358 Comment by Rumble Bee 1358 on June 29, 2009 at 9:06pm
Come on Russ its not the union worker that caused the problem there the ones that are giving up alot to help the big 3 out of trouble. There not the reason for the high cost it was the company's being wasteful that got them into trouble.
